Sephora PLAY! : October 2017

Similar to Ipsy this is also a monthly subscription bag that is $10 and comes with 5 deluxe size samples (and even some full size). This bag also comes with a sample fragrance each month.

This subscription bag comes with products based of your PLAY! profile which you create when you first sign up. It also comes with the PLAY! Book with tips, tricks and beauty advise, the PLAY! PASS that you can redeem for 50 points in Sephora and a one on one tutorial, and the PLAY! DATE which is a monthly meet up to discuss tips and tricks for the products in the bag that month.

So lets get into this months box!

img_7013I am never really wowed by these bags but I do like what this one is putting forth! It’s about embracing all skin tones! Public Display of Complexion! I won’t probably ever use this bag but the sentiment behind it I love!

Now for the products!

img_7014Chanel; Gabrielle                                                                      Full size Retail $105

As I have stated many times before I’m not a huge perfume person. And even though I thought I might like this the more that the scent settled into my room I just couldn’t handle it. Maybe one of these day’s I will get one I actually like a lot.

Cover FX; Custom Enhancer Drops; Shade: Moonlight               Full Size Retail $42

When I saw this product in the bag I was soooooooo excited! I never in my life thought I would get to try these beauties! The full size is so expensive and I don’t dabble with highlighter enough to justify purchasing it in a full size. But I am so happy that we got this sample!!! I think this is plenty to last me a while! And then let us all just take a moment for the amazingness that is this swatch……… that is the smallest of drops from the bottle too!!! This looks great mixed into foundation and it looks great just put on the skin! So flashy and so blinding! It almost makes me want to buy a full size in another color! Maybe one day in the future.

Make Up For Ever; Ultra HD Skin Booster                                         Full size Retail $41

To be honest I hadn’t heard of this and I don’t even know what it does. But after reading the “what it does” section on Sephora I learned that it is supposed to recharge your complexion, instantly hydrate skin and smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I have used this a couple of times and I can’t say that I have noticed a huge difference in my skin. I will continue to use it and find out if there really is a difference but this is something I don’t think I would ever end up buying a full size of.

Becca; First Light Filter Face Primer                                          Full Size Retail $38

I was pretty excited to see this in the bag this month! I have only tired on other sample of a primer from Becca, I think it was some kind of radiance primer, and for my oily skin it just made me look like a giant grease ball. But I have heard great things about this one! And after trying it I actually really like this one! The lavender color helps to brighten my skin and I really noticed a difference in how my foundation applied. I try to keep primers to my T-Zone because that is where I get most oily and I didn’t have to touch up at all that day which was really nice!

Make Up For Ever; Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation; Shade: R230

Full Size Retail $43

I have heard many great things about this foundation but I could never really bring myself to spend the high price tag for this considering that it’s something that I would go through pretty quickly using it everyday. But now that I have tried this I think I am HOOKED! I loved the finish this had on my skin and how little I had to use to get the coverage I was looking for! It was very comfortable on the skin and I didn’t have to touch up through out the day which is a normal thing for me with any foundation because I have a very oily T-Zone. I think the next time I am do for foundation I am going to give this one a try! I was really impressed to that this shade was actually really good for me! Not a perfect match but something that really worked!

Laura Mercier; Translucent Loose Setting Powder                    Full Size Retail $38

I have gotten this sample size before and this is a cult favorite! I love the finish it provides the skin and the comfortable feel! I have used this to bake and it doesn’t leave a super powdery feel to my skin but leaves a nice smooth appearance. I was really excited to see this in the bag as well because I had just run out of my other sample size. On a regular basis I like to use Coty Air Spun powder but this is nice for special occasions or when I really want to be fancy for a nice night out. This really is a favorite and for good reason!

So that concludes my October Sephora PLAY! bag! I actually really like this bag this month and just when I was thinking of canceling it! But I have decided I am going to give it a year before I decide to cancel it. And looking back a year is actually in March which is crazy because I thought it had been much longer than that but I guess we will see how this goes!

I do have some more fun and exciting things coming up that I am really excited to share with you not only for this month but for next as well!

Thank you for stopping by and keep an eye out for what might be up around the curve.

  1. This month’s box was so good. I think there were two kinds, ones that got the laura mercier, cover fx and becca combo, and others like me who got urban decay, tarte, and dr. brandt combo. I prefer yours!
