Sephora PLAY! : April 2018

You might be wondering why this is so late…well yet again this was the last box to come in and due to some glitch in shipping it took 17 days to get to me…#reasonsicontimplatecanceling

Similar to Ipsy this is also a monthly subscription bag that is $10 and comes with 5 deluxe size samples (and even some full size). This bag also comes with a sample fragrance each month.

This subscription bag comes with products based of your PLAY! profile which you create when you first sign up. It also comes with the PLAY! Book with tips, tricks and beauty advise, the PLAY! PASS that you can redeem for 50 points in Sephora and a one on one tutorial, and the PLAY! DATE which is a monthly meet up to discuss tips and tricks for the products in the bag that month.

Lets get into this months back!

img_0640

This months theme “Make It Snappy” not really sure what this had to do with the products in the bag but we will get into that.

Urban Decay; Hi-Fi Lip Gloss; Shade- SPL                                          Full Size Retail $20

This would be the definition of sample size! I have gotten other lip product samples they are always bigger than the ones I get in my Sephora PLAY! box. This one is tiny and I actually feel like it only has a few uses in it. But it is a fun gloss topper. It looks pink in the tube but doesn’t have that much pigment to it so it’s nice to put on top of different lip colors. There is quite a lot of glitter in these and it does make for a fun jazzed up look. I however don’t like the formula! It’s sticky and takes a lot to get an even layer on the lips. To think this was one of the highlighted things in my box this month…no much hope fore the rest of the items…

Make Up For Ever; Ultra HD Perfector Skin Tint Foundation SPF 25; Shade-#6 Warm Sand Full Size Retail Price $36

This is probably the most irritating item in the box this month because well as you can blatantly see in the photo- IT’S NO WHERE NEAR MY SKIN COLOR! When I opened this up and swatched it I was so disappointed because this isn’t even close to a shade I would wear even with a tan! So I can’t tell you much about this product because I can’t test it out. And honestly I don’t know that a skin tint is worth $36 for 1.01 oz of product in the full size. Lets move on…

IT Cosmetics; Bye Bye Pores Pressed Poreless Finish Airbrsh Pressed Powder                  Full Size Retail $29

I have gotten this product before in a different subscription and it’s an ok powder. I will say it’s not my favorite and I find it to be too powdery on my skin. It does set my under eyes pretty good but it’s not the powder I reach for and need to have. I’m also not the biggest fan of pressed powders I normally prefer loose powders to set my face. I will use this one for a little while but I don’t know that it will be something I reach for all of the time.

Fresh; Lotus Youth Preserve Rescue Mask                                   Full Size Retail $62

A turn for the better we got this Fresh mask! I really like getting mask products because it gives me a chance to try it out and see how it works with my skin and I’m not fully committed to a product that might not work. I haven’t had time to give this mask a try but I am really looking forward to it. The smell is really nice and is said to help with skin smoothing which I need right now coming out of winter. Let me know if you have tried this and if you like it!?

img_0649

Perter Thomas Roth; Skin to Die For No- Filter Mattifying Primer and Complexion Perfector             Full Size Retail Price $28

I did get a chance to try this out today as I am writing this post and I’m not totally sure of my thoughts on it just yet. I really like the feel and the smooth way it applied to my skin, however with the foundation I used today it seems to be separating around my nose. And of course the foundation I used isn’t my usual go to but is one I do use during the summer. I’m going to have to test this out more and see if it’s really something I like or if it’s a bust for my skin type. Only time will tell!

img_0653

MIU MIU; MIU MIU L’eau Rosee   Full Size Retail Price $81

We all know how I feel about perfume samples so I won’t drone on. Though it seems that this year they are alternating months with perfume samples and foil packet samples.

Well that concludes my Sephora PLAY! for April…to say the least I am less than impressed yet again… I had hope that they were stepping up their game but unfortunately that’s not the case. I am going to keep this subscription for now and hope that this was just a bad month.

Let me know what did you get in your Sephora PLAY! box? Also what other $10 subscriptions do you like that I could pick up to replace this one?

Thank you for stopping by and keep an eye out for what might be up around the curve!

Yes, Oh Yas! : April 2018

Yes, Oh Yas! is a new monthly subscription box ! They offer 3-7 full size products each month for $14.99 plus $3.99 shipping. This box allows you to discover new make up and beauty brands.

Yes, Oh Yas! actually reached out to me to become a brand promoter for their new subscription box.  They did give me a code to share with you all for 10% off you first box.

yesohyas.com

CODE: CURVYE

Disclaimer: I don’t get paid from this code and I will always keep my opinions on the products honest, true and my own.

So lets get into this months box!

Crown Brushes; 12 Piece Pink Vegan brush Set                                Retail Value $12

I think it’s so awesome that we got a whole brush set in this months box! I mean how cute is this pink brush roll and the brushes have two tone pink and white bristles which is the cutest! The brushes are really nice quality and easy to use! I was really impressed to receive a whole set. This is really nice for traveling as well because you can just roll up your brushes throw them in your bag and head out! I have been using these like crazy and really love them!

Girlactick; Mechanical Eyeliner; Shade-Gray                                             Retail Price $19

This is such a interesting addition to this months box! I totally wasn’t expecting a gray eyeliner but I am so intrigued! The formula on this eyeliner is really nice and creamy! I was really impressed when I went to do a simple swatch and it melted on to my skin so easily. The other interesting thing about this eyeliner is that it comes with a angled/slanted product (similar to how lipstick is slanted). It makes it interesting to apply. I think it’s fun to try out a gray eyeliner but I have been struggling to find  looks to pair this with that it doesn’t just end up making my eye look dirty. I think I need to play with it some more and I will end up really loving how it looks.

bellaterra Mineral Cosmetics; Mineral Bronzer; Shade-Sensual              Retail Price $59.99

This mineral bronzer is so not worth the money. I was shocked when I read the website for the retail price on this one. I really struggled using this bronzer because it’s so incredibly shimmery and ends up looking muddy on my face. It’s also a really light color for being a bronzer so I have struggled getting it to look the way I want it too on my face. I need to try this one out as a blush to see how it looks given that it is so shimmery but as of right now I am really not a fan of this product and think it would be a waste of $60 if you purchased this after the fact. I also really dislike this kind of packaging because it’s so hard to get product where you want it without making a mess.

Manna Kadar Beauty; Flutter Mascara                                               Retail Price $29

Another mascara to add to the collection! This one I wasn’t sure about because as anyone who follows me knows I’m not a huge fan of this style of mascara wand. But none the less I gave it a try! And believe it or not I really like! I was so impressed with how this oddly shaped brush really made my lashes look long and somewhat fuller! Which isn’t always the case for me with brushes like these. I’m also a huge sucker for packaging so seeing this adorable rose gold foiling on the tube and the rose gold package was just so cute! Now the one downside I have had with this mascara is that it’s a pain to get off! I tried oil based makeup remover, no oil make up remover, eye specific make up remover, waterproof make up remover and it took sooo much tugging and rubbing and pulling to get this off. I feel like this is probably best when paired with the Manna Kadar lash primer which is separate because this just stuck to my lashes and didn’t want to let go! This isn’t always a bad thing when it comes to mascara’s but for me it was a giant pain! However this can be a good thing when you need a long wearing mascara that doesn’t flake!

In this months box we have a grand total of….

$119.99!!!!

Again such great value! Each month I feel like this subscription surprises us with more and more. This wasn’t one of my favorite months but I seeing the sneak peaks for next month I am really excited to see what is in store! Remember you can use code CURVYE for 10% off your first box!

Thanks for stopping by and keep an eye out for what might be up around the curve!

Boxy Charm : April 2018

Boxy Charm is $21 a month for 4-5 full size products. The box is always guaranteed to a value of $100 or more each month. They offer a wide range of brands from emerging to well known. There is a beauty quiz you can take similar to Ipsy to go over your skin tone, skin type, hair color, eye color, so on and so forth. They also offer a user friendly website to allow you to review the items in your box.

Let’s get into this months box!

img_0520

I have to say as each month’s box comes out I am more and more impressed and fall in love with everything they send me!

ColourPop; Semi Precious Eyeshadow Palette                                 Retail Price-$26

This month every subscriber got the option of one of five different ColourPop eyeshadow palettes! (this palette is also on sale right now for $18!)

…..here is where you take a short min and go and subscribe to Boxy Charm now….

I  was really excited to not only hear about this as a spoiler but also to get the Semi Precious palette! This is one that I don’t think I would have gotten for myself but I am so happy it came in my box!! img_0519These are all shimmer shades and are absolutely stunning! The pigmentation on ColourPop shadows are so amazing considering how affordable of a brand they are! Now you might think this palette is on the higher priced side, especially for only 8 shades, but each of these pans is actually bigger than their average pressed shadow pan and each shade is unique! The quality of shadow is just amazing to me as well. These shadows are so shimmer and buttery and can be applied both dry or wet, with your finger or a brush and they look stunning every time! I have been using this palette since I got it for my all over lid colors and to highlight my inner corner and my brow bone. I’m just so impressed and so happy that we got ColourPop in our box this month!

Tarte Costemtics; Tarteist PRO Glow Liquid Highlighter; Shade- Sparkler   Retail Price $29

Do you see the shine?! Do you see how bright this looks?! This is another amazing product and I have been loving using it! I normally am not a huge fan of liquid highlighters and this is just because I’m not very good at using them but when we got this I made it my goal to figure it out and boy have I! This really looks stunning on the skin and blends into the skin so nicely! I wear it on top of my foundation and apply it before I set my face with powder. It leaves such a beautiful glow! I have been in Love! I also like to set it with a powder highlight just for a bit of extra glow. The other nice thing about this product is that it only takes a small amount to go a really long way! I think this would also be great on the body, especially coming into spring and summer this is going to be awesoimg_0514me for some no make up, make up and days at the beach!

Dr. Brandt; Pores No More; Vaccum Cleaner         Retail Price $42

I haven’t had a chance to try this stuff out just yet but I have heard great things about it! There is a cooling sensation as this dry’s down on the face and helps to clean out for pores! I am really excited to try this out on my problem area’s around my nose and chin! I will update if I get a chance to use this before this post goes up!

img_0510

The BrowGal; The Instatint- Tinted Eyebrow Gel; Shade-02 Brown Hair Retail Price $22

This stuff is awesome! It’s slightly dark for my brows but I have used it with a light hand and I am so impressed with how it makes them stay all day with looking crunchy. This is really nice for on the go as well if you are in a hurry and just run this through your brows to give them some slight dimension and more fullness. The spooly is a nice size as well and makes it nice to comb through the brows. I have been using this almost daily and I love it!

Adesse New York; Hi Definition Liquid Lipstick; Shade-Haute Cocoa       Retail Price $24

This is so beautiful! I normally don’t gravitate toward these kind of brown/taupe shades because I don’t think they look very good on me but this is a beautiful lipstick! I was really surprised how much I like it! This is also a very glossy finish lipstick. It doesn’t feel sticky at all and is very pigmented and smooth to apply! When I was looking at the website they have some other beautiful colors I am considering purchasing that are more wearable for me but regardless this is a stunning lipstick. I have actually been wearing this more than I thought but I love how it’s the pigment of a liquid lip but with a glossy finish!

So this concludes another amazing month of Boxy Charm fun!!! This month box totaled….

$143!!!

This probably has to be my favorite subscription because of how much value it really holds! I can’t wait to see what we get next month!

Ipsy Review : April 2018

For those of you who don’t know about this subscription bag it is  $10 and contain 5 deluxe size samples (and sometimes full size products)  each month.

Ipsy starts with a beauty quiz that asks you questions about different things you like as well as your different features (i.e. Blonde hair, green eyes, fair skin). Each month you also can review the products your received; so if you love something you let them know and if you hate something you let them know.

Lets get into this months bag!

img_0449

This bag is beyond adorable! When I saw the sneak peaks on the Ipsy Instagram I was swooning over how cute this is! I also love that it’s a decent size without being too big and fits so nicely in my purse! The shades of pink and the rose metallic detailing was just spot on and stunning! This is probably my new favorite bag from Ipsy!

Now for this months products!

Meech and Mia; Loose Eyeshadow; Shade- Copper

This loose shadow is stunning! It’s a very warm copper color and I wish my photo was better on this one but it really is stunning! It also applies very nicely to the eye. I did wet my brush when I used this shadow and it makes for the most metallic and almost wet looking lid! This is a color I don’t normally like to use so it’s been a stretch for me to incorporate this shade into more of my looks to really test it out. It really is a stand out shade! I couldn’t get the website to load for Meech and Mia so I wasn’t able to link the shadow in the post.

Trust Fund Beauty; That Glo Tho Liquid Highlighter; Shade- Lit AF

Holy Highlight! Do you see how blinding this is! And that was a small amount too. I am totally blown away! To be totally honest too, liquid highlighters scare me a bit because of how intense they are and how it easily can become too much but this one has been fun to experiment and try out! I really have loved how it looks on my skin and it’s absolutely beautiful! Even though this is a smaller bottle it’s going to last me a good while because a little bit goes such a long way. The shade is really beautiful as well being a smooth rose gold color. This will be getting lots of use!

img_0450

Firma Beauty; 202 Angled Blender

To be the broken record you all know I am.. I LOVE GETTING BRUSHES! This one is very nice quality and super nice for blending out color in the crease. I like to put the angle part up so that it really diffuses the color I am using in the crease while not making a huge mess on my lid. And just because I am a sucker for cute packaging and these brushes are beautifully packaged! the crisp white with the bronze feral is just classy and stunning!

img_0458

Purlisse; Coconut Oil + Coffee Sugar Body Scrub

This is such a fun scrub! It is an exfoliant and provides moisture all at the same time! I have loved to use this on my dry patches in the shower in the morning because the coffee sent is so strong and I love it! I like getting these kinds of things in my subscriptions because I don’t normally buy these kinds of items for myself so this gives me the chance to try them out before committing to buying the full size!

NYX Professional Make-Up; Soft Matte Lip Cream; Shade- Ibiza

I was so excited to get this in this months bag! I have always wanted to try the NYX liquid lip sticks and this one is amazing! I love the color also! It’s the perfect pinky coral color. Even though online it say’s it’s a deep rose pink this has more warm tones to it. I really like this color for the coming spring and summer months! The formula on these is incredible as well! It’s very smooth and soft and applies like a dream! It also has a really nice wear time I was really impressed with how long it stayed on during the day even with eating and drinking.

So that concludes my April Ipsy and I am so happy with the products I got this month! Let me know what you go in your Ipsy this month!?

Thank you for stopping by and keep an eye out for what might be up around the curve!

Live Glam also offers a brush club subscription for $19.99 with Morphe Brushes and they have an eyeshadow club coming as well that looks to be $19.99 for 6 eye shadows.

Lets get into this month’s lippies!

img_0496

The month of April was the 1st Birthday for Live Glam’s Kiss me club and they celebrated by offering an additional lippie up for grabs. You could purchase it for $5 plus shipping (if you bag hadn’t already shipped) or use points that you can earn with Live Glam to be redeemed for free makeup and brushes and in this case for a special edition lipstick!

So lets start with that one in our swatches!

(P.S. I’m trying to get better at my selfie came for these lip swatch photos bare with me!)

BDay Kisses

img_0501

img_0547

I really enjoy shades like this one because they are bright and bold and so much fun! I know a bright fuchsia like this might not be everyone’s cup of tea but it really is a beautiful shade! As always the matte formula is really nice and long lasting. This shade for me will be getting some good use this coming spring and summer!

Butterfly

img_0500

img_0544

An interesting shade for sure and beautiful! This is a bright raspberry shade with a slight glitter flip. I want to say the glitter is a blueish undertone but it’s so fine that I can’t quite put on finger on it. This is another bold shade that really makes a statement and if you aren’t afraid to try different lip colors this is a beautiful shade to give a try!

Poppy

img_0498

img_0545

Poppy is another interesting color for this month! In the tube it looks very much like a red but when applied and swatched I can’t help but think of it as a firey, pinky, coral. It’s such an interesting shade I just can’t quiet describe it. I really feel like this can be suited for many skin tones because of it’s unique color and for me it’s a small step out of my comfort zone because I normally don’t like warm coral shades but this one really is beautiful.

Soft Mist

img_0503

img_0542

For some reason I am always so taken back by the different metallic shades and how wearable they seem to be. This one is a warm coppery gold. It’s got great shimmer and actually paired really nice with my eye look here. I have been impressed by the quality of the metallic lip sticks since I got the first on in my first month subscribing.

Over all this was a month full of bold and bright colors that are so fitting for the upcoming spring and summer seasons and I love having so many options to choose from! I will say this month is bold and bright similar to last month but I love this month much more because of the pinks. I’m excited to see what new colors will be for next month!

Thank you for stopping by and keep an eye out for what might be up around the curve!

Doing Good Feel’s Good

Growing up in a small rural community volunteering was something that always seemed to stay a priority in my life. A lot of this I think came from watching my mom stay so involved with many different organizations, committees and what not and I think a partial bit came from being involved in 4-H from a young age all the way into being an adult.  We always made time to volunteer here an there and do what we could to make a difference.

But one thing I can always remember is that doing good things for people always made me feel good. I always got such joy from trying to make a difference in our small community. I know how much work goes into different events and that a lot of time these events are put on by volunteers who go unpaid and often without thanks for their hard work and commitment. You might remember that a few months ago I shared a post on the power of a hand written thank you note and now I want to share a little bit about a project I recently worked on with an amazing group of women that will forever make me grateful for being raised volunteering.

Doing good feels good!

When I’m talking about doing good things, I’m talking about doing something that you won’t get any return on, something that has nothing in it for you, something that you happen to be passionate about progressing and something you want to see grow and make a difference. Being selfless, being kind and being humble.

Unfortunately in our world today kindness and selflessness aren’t common character traits. We have become all too often focused on “WIFM” or What’s In it For Me. I know I myself am guilty of thinking this way at times. Thinking why would I pitch in for that, why would I help with that, what’s the point no one will notice anyway. But that’s not the point. I pitch in because it’s helping someone else out, I help because it’s needed to make events and project successful and it’s not about being noticed! I have to remind myself of this sometimes when I get the attitude of “WIFM”. I have to remember that I can make a difference even if it’s just a small one anything I do will make a difference!

The Big Project!

Just over a year ago I had this idea! I was so excited about it! I ran it past the people in charge of the program and they gave the ok while being included in the design process. Awesome! Now it was time to design and get the funds needed!

In 2017 I started a project to help out the Miss Spokane Interstate Rodeo Queen Pageant. I held the title in 2015 and it was one of the best years of my life! The friends you meet, the memories you make, the moments you cherish all can happen in just one year as a rodeo queen and that year for me was by far one of the best! I still have times when I reminisce on the weekends spent with my rodeo family and the times we had and all of the innocent shenanigans we could get into. It was definitely a year to remember and it opened up a lot of doors for me in ways I didn’t think would be possible!

So this project was started to help out a program that had really done so much for me and 10 other young women. I wanted to give back and to help change the next girls life just as mine had been changed from my year. The program was entering it’s 10th year in 2017 and has continued to grow exponentially. I had watched it grow for years prior to trying out and I want to see it continue on to be one of the best options for aspiring young women to represent the sport of rodeo and their hometown.

After 10 years the perpetual chaps that the queens have worn throughout their year were starting to look tired and weathered.

img_0339

Now I am the first to say that this photo isn’t the best but it gives you a general idea of what these looked like. Tired and weathered yes but still in pretty good shape even for being used for 10 straight summers.

It was time for a change and an upgrade! I reached out to the 10 other young ladies to hold the title and with a years time and reminding we got the money we needed for the beautiful chaps we had designed.

The Story Behind the Design

The city of Spokane is famous for many things but one thing in particular is the nickname it carries “The Lilac City” for the beautiful lilacs that bloom each May. The stunning purple and white colors transform our city when they are in bloom and these colors are ones many MSIR queen’s have used over the years. So I couldn’t think of a more perfect color combination to bring into this new design even paying homage to the old pair that would be retired. Next with the help of the creative genius of the amazing woman constructing these beautiful works of art we added 3D lilac’s to stand out even more in a way that would be totally recognizable and unique to MSIR.

The other awesome feature we had for this pair of chaps was a back belt that is made to be interchangeable. This was an important detail to me so that each lady from here on out not only had a pair of chaps that fit them but also a keepsake from their year that they will take with them for years to come! This back belt can be designed to each young ladies liking but could include their name and the year they served as Miss Spokane Interstate Rodeo Queen. There is also a perpetual back belt that reads Miss Spokane Interstate Rodeo Queen for the in between times when the young ladies are getting their personal belt made for the chaps each year!

What makes these even more special is the attention to detail that Prairie Leather Designs took to make these chaps not only one of a kind but a stand out set. She added set stones to each of the lilac flowers and along the leg of the chaps.  She also added in some small detail green stones to the leaves that are placed next to the lilacs. Its the fine details like these that makes these chaps all that much more special.

So I know by now the suspense has to be killing you on what these beautiful babies look like!

Without further ado:

img_0337

img_0334

img_0335

Each time I look at these I am just so impressed with how beautiful they are! I remember when I first saw them in person I held back tears. I was overwhelmed by the stunning details and the care and hard work put into a one of a kind pair of chaps that will be well used, well loved and our ladies will be well noticed in!

And your probably wondering who the lucky lady that gets to wear them in their debut this year in 2018?

Meet Mary Jane Lowry!

img_0074

Pictured Left to Right: Jamie (Cutshall) Clark, Myself, Mary Jane Lowry and Katherine Merck.

She is humble, kind and has a heart for service! I couldn’t think of any one better to wear these chaps in their first year and I am excited to watch her year unfold!

This photo is three of the 5 contributors to this amazing project and I am so beyond thankful for the amazing women who not only helped with this project but who jumped at the opportunity to help out a growing program.

Special thank you to the 4 ladies that joined me in the journey and project:

MSIR 2010 : Emily (Houger) Dingman

MSIR 2011 : Jamie (Cutshall) Clark

MSIR 2013: Macy LaValley

MSIR 2014: Katherine Merck

I can’t explain how incredible each of these ladies are and how they made their year impactful to everyone around them! Their generosity is helping this program continue  to be one of the best! I can’t say thank you enough to them!

This post is coming finished just in time for the coronation fundraiser this Saturday that will help Mary Jane with expenses during her year!

Wedding Wednesday : April 2018

We have come to another Wedding Wednesday my friends!

For the month of April I wanted to offer up 5 alternative ideas for celebrating with your girls for a bachelorette party! I know we all watch the movies and see all of the crazy things that happen but that’s not always the scene everyone wants to be apart of!

In all reality the bachelorette party should be for a fun time with your girls to celebrate you as you head into this new life of being a wife.

So without further ado 5 bachelorette party ideas!

1. Spa Day

Schedule a day at a spa or make one at home either way this is a fun way to relax before the big day! Mani/Pedi’s, facials, massages! Get the works. There is nothing better than a day of pampering with your girls to just sit and chat. I know I love just hanging out and spending time with my girls having time to ourselves.

2. Schedule a Photo Shoot

This is probably one of my favorite idea’s, spending a few hours with your girls just getting fun photo’s of you all together! Find a fun place or a place that is sentimental to all of you and just have a great time! This might also be something fun to do with your wedding photographer if they are available because this will help you get to know them more and feel more comfortable on the big day when it comes to those up close and in your face shots! Plus it’s nice to have some group shots of you and your BFF’s that you normally wouldn’t always get!

3. Girls Night In

For all of you home bodies, this I think would be one of the better options to have a great time without having to get totally dressed up and spending a tone of money! With a girls night in you can build a couch cushion fort, order pizza, pick out a movie and just have a great time with your gal pals!

4. Volunteering

This is for all of you out there that want to give back! What a more fun way than to do some sort of volunteering event! It’s a nice way to get all of your friends and girls together for a good cause. This could be spending time at an animal shelter, helping with Habitat for Humanity, donating or helping out at a children’s home, really the possibilities are endless with this option and this is a nice way to make your bachelorette party mean something to you!

5. Camping Trip

For all of you who love to be out in nature this is a fun way to get out and relax before the big day! You can get some peace and quiet and just enjoy the simple things. I know I really like having some time to myself when I have been busy and stressed and taking some time to unwind and be away from the hustle and bustle is really beneficial before the wedding. This will also allow you to clear your head and have a level mind going forward into the final days before the wedding.

I know not everyone is all about going out and getting tanked so that’s why I wanted to put out some alternative idea’s for hanging out with friends prior to the big day! The possibilities are endless.

We are coming up on wedding season and I couldn’t be more excited!

Thank you for stopping by and keep an eye out for what might be up around the curve!

A Surprise In The Mail!

Last week the lovely

Regan Alires Younique Presenter

Started a new feature on her beauty Facebook page called “Name this Look”! The first look she posted was a smoky rose gold look. I am always so impressed with how her different looks come out and this one really stood out to me! I thought a good name for it would be “Carmel Mocha Surprise” because of the warm tones and the shimmer that popped on her lid. And with to my surprise she liked my name choice!

Here is her look!

img_0448Gorgeous right!

Well because I helped her name this look she sent me some goodies in the mail and I just had to share what she sent me!!!

img_0397Look at these goodies! I was really excited to give the shadows a try as I haven’t had the opportunity to try the Younique eye shadows. She also sent me this sample packet of perfumes. I’m not a big perfume wearer but this was a nice little sample packet for one time uses and to get a nice idea of what each scent is like.

Now lets dive in to these two shadows!

This is the most beautiful and perfect transition shade! Its the perfect neutrally warm brown that you can build up in the crease and really helps to make your look blended and gives a nice place for you to start building in colors on top of as you build the look. The other thing that totally impressed me was the pan size! These are nice big pans sizes compared to other press powder shadows I have. These are very buttery also!

Exhilarated

img_0402img_0403This shade is a gorgeous shimmer! I really wasn’t sure how I would like it because in the pan is has an almost purple flip to it and I thought it would end up looking funny when I applied it but I was completely wrong! It’s beautiful! I didn’t even have to use my setting mist to make my brush wet for it to have amazing pigment and shine! This shadow was also very creamy and pigmented! A total win!

Over all these shadows are incredible! They are very generous pan sizes and retail for $14. The other thing I really enjoy but didn’t get a photo of was each shade comes with it’s only little compact and a sticker to put on the back of the compact or back of the pan so that you can quickly and easily find the name of the shade you are looking for. There are 34 shades that I can find on the website and they all look amazing! I think I will be trying more in the future! Thank you Regan for sending me this awesome surprise! I really appreciate this gift!

Good Will Finds : Thrifty Thursday

This past weekend my best friend and I adventured to Good Will to do some shopping and to see what deals and steals we could find! I was really surprised that I walked out spending $34.76 and with 5 new dresses for the spring and summer!

When going to second hand stores I never know what I will find that will be in my size or even fit me but I was really excited I found these steals that were not only right up my ally but also perfect for everyday wear and for work as well.

Now I want to start by saying that this is my first type of blog like this and my amazing husband helped me take the photo’s- they aren’t the best but this is a work in progress and I really want to expand my blog a lot more so here goes nothing!

I took a risk buying this dress given that it didn’t have a tag with a size on it and given the material I wasn’t sure how much wiggle room I really had. But it ended up fitting just about perfectly! I didn’t even have to use the zipper in the back just slipped it on over my head.  The only thing I had trouble with this dress was the V neck front. As you can see in the photo my tank top was peaking out and I wasn’t a big fan of that. However the bust area on the dress has enough wiggle room that I could pull it some closed a little higher and put a safety pin in to keep my cleavage from falling out.

After wearing this for a day at work with just the safety pin to hold the bust area more closed together I think I may hand stitch it so that I am not constantly fighting with a safety pin. I am really excited to wear this dress for the spring and summer time as it is really nice and light and airy with a nice flow and really is a beautiful color! I also appreciate the little bit of rushing around the waist that also cinches in and gives a more flattering look. img_0378

This next dress is for sure an old style probably from the late 80’s early 90’s but the fun thing about fashion is that certain things always come back in style and if you know how to accessorize you can make anything current! I didn’t pair this with anything just yet because I feel with the floral print and the tiered ruffle bottom and flowy sleeves this dress can speak for itself! The only struggle I have with this one is that the dress itself is very sheer and see through. I have on a white skirt slip and a white undershirt for the photo but I think a black full dress slip would look nice or even a pop of color like the red or gold in the flowers. The other thing I really want to pair with this dress is a belt around the middle or a sash of some sort to help give myself a bit more shape. Over all though I really love this dress and how it fits!

This was another risky buy for me because on the hanger this dress looked a lot smaller than it actually is. This dress has a lot of nice stretch to it and is designed with these piping type seams that also allow for stretch and give a flattering shape to the dress. I really loved the colors on this one as well and with the busy design I find it more flattering for my shape and size. The pink, white and navy also fit nicely into my current wardrobe so this will be a nice piece to have for the spring and summer. I also really like the length on this dress. It hits just below my knee which I enjoy because it’s long enough to cover everything but not so long that I feel like I am hiding from the sun. The material on this dress is also really nice because it’s a knit type fabric that also has some weight to it so it makes for a nice hang on this dress as well.

img_0376This was one of the first dresses I found that I really liked and was for sure in my size. When I held it up on the hanger I didn’t notice that there was a slight narrowing at the bottom of the dress giving more room at the hips. For me this is not a flattering shape but I think if I try with a different under garment that this will look smoother and have a nicer shape on me. I really like the patter on this dress and being in black and white it’s very easy to pair with some bright pops of color for accessories. This is very much a summer dress and not one I would wear to work. I really like the material which also a knit type material that has a nice feel and hang to it. This is a maxi dress so it does all the way to the floor and I normally am not drawn to dresses like this but for $5 I couldn’t really pass this one up. I’m hoping that as I start working to loose inches that this dress will start to hang a lot nicer and look more flattering on my body type.

Last but not least is the piece I was most excited about to add to my work wardrobe! This was a two piece suite that probably made it’s debut in the late 80’s or early 90’s but leave it to me to find this bright bundle of fun that is so much my personality I can’t handle it! As soon as I saw the jacket on this two piece set I knew I need to try it on to see how it fit in the arms and just like that I found my favorite find of the day! When I got home I tried on the skirt and with this type of material and cute of a pencil skirt it didn’t fit nicely on me so I will hold off on wearing this in total as a set to work until I feel more comfortable in the skirt. The jacket however is just a statement piece on it’s own! The large floral patter with the pastel pinks, purples and yellows just jump out and scream spring and summer! Both pieces are full polyester fabric so no stretch and very structured. This is also a dry clean only outfit so that is another thing I’m not totally fond of but I think with how cute this is I can handle getting it dry cleaned when I need to!

I loved doing this shopping and looking for those thrifty finds! It’s like a treasure hunt you just don’t know what you will find and I absolutely love the thrill of it. I think I might try to do this once a month and see what I can find.

Let me know if you would be interested in a Thrifty Thursday series here on my blog!

I am really excited to post this just because it’s something new for my blog and it’s taken a lot for me to be comfortable posting full body photo’s of myself just because like anyone I have insecurities with my looks. I hope you enjoy this!

Thanks for reading and keep an eye out for what might be up around the curve!
