Two Years of Bliss….HAHA

I can hardly believe that my husband and I have been married for two years! I know this is just a blink on our journey of life together but time really does fly when your having fun. Or so they say!

I do have to say that I am incredibly lucky each and every day to have an amazing man by my side day in and day out who supports me through it all! And I love being able to grow together and help him with his adventures and dreams as well! To think it’s been two years since we said “I do”, is crazy to me but also absolutely amazing all the same time!

The reason I laugh in the title of this post is because as every one knows no relationship is perfect. We have had our ups and downs over this past year but thankfully it’s more up’s than downs. We have officially stayed in one place the longest time yet. My husband made a large career jump and I have finally found a company to stay and work at for longest time frame yet.

I feel like all of the changes we have made in this last year have been growing up changes. Ones where we are becoming more and more like adults as we go. Though as I say this I think about our bickering over who’s mess is currently in the living room and kitchen and think, “we haven’t grown up that much yet.” But the best part is even through the ups and downs we get to grow together!

Every year we schedule photo’s to be taken on or around our anniversary with our original wedding photographer. I find it nice to capture how our lives have changed year to year and how much more we still have to grow!

This year we went to the top of a mountain…and we really felt on top of the world!

Every year I fall more and more in love with you and though we have only been married for two years, we have been together for six and I can’t wait to see what our future holds!

Happy Anniversary to my one and only!

Yes, Oh Yas! : July 2018

Yes, Oh Yas! is a new monthly subscription box ! They offer 3-7 full size products each month for $14.99 plus $3.99 shipping. This box allows you to discover new make up and beauty brands.

Yes, Oh Yas! actually reached out to me to become an affiliate for their subscription box.  They did give me a code to share with you all for 10% off you first box.

I will always keep my opinions on the products honest, true and my own.

So lets get into this months box!

img_1454The theme for this month was Summer in the Desert, all based around this amazing palette from IBY. Now for the goodies!

IBY Beauty; Desert Vibes Palette                                                                        Retail Price $20

This was the star of the show in this months box! This palette was well worth it for this box! I was pretty excited when they sneaked this on their Instagram because even though I’m sure I have shades pretty similar to all of these in this palette it’s still nice to get a pretty warm palette! Now when I actually opened up the palette and swatched this I was so impressed. These are some of the most buttery, creamy and pigmented shadows I have worked with! This is a rock start palette and with the pop of color added by the blue it offers so many different options for different eye looks. I am so impressed with not only the pigmentation but the blendability of these shadows. Such a great palette! I will be using this a lot and I may need to try out one of the other palettes IBY has on their website!

Skone Costmetics; Insanely Intense Tattooed Eyeliner; Shade-Plum             Retail Price $15

I was super excited for this when I realized that it was a PURPLE! I absolutely love purple eyeliner and I used to wear purple in my waterline all the time because it really makes my green eye’s pop but I got away from eye liner for so long I forgot how much I love how this looks! This liner is super easy to apply and is a felt tip. Even though this is a plum colored liner it is darkly pigmented and almost looks as though it could be black. I really love the formula on this because it dries down and looks great! Plus I am happy with anything other than a black liner!

Perse Professional Cosmetics; Smearproof Lipliner; Shade- Nudist               Retail Price $23

I haven’t heard of this company before but this is a really nice lip liner. It’s extremely creamy and applies nicely to the lips. One thing I noticed with this pencil however is that it was almost such a soft and creamy texture that the point on the pencil would almost smoosh down if I applied too much pressure. The other weird thing about this product is the shape of the pencil. It has an odd shape that make’s it alittle interesting to sharpen but other than that it’s a nice shade and a nice pencil. I also wanted to note that I couldn’t find a link for this pencil. Perse seem’s to be a whole sale brand. Update: When I was looking for the shade I saw that Perse seems to be an extension of Sorme because the lip liner is manufactured by Sorme.

Sorme Cosmetic’s; Lipstick; Shade- Bliss                                                 Retail Price $22

As we all know I’m a lipstick junkie and I was super excited to get this in the box this month. I was pleasantly surprised with the shade as well. In the bullet the color looks much darker than what it applies but I really love this shade. There is a shimmer to the formula but not a sparkle. This is also seems to be a moisturizing lipstick which I like. The only problem I have with traditional lipsticks is they don’t last through eating and drinking and that is why I normally like stick to my liquid lips. This is another one I wasn’t able to find and link because Sorme seems to be a whole sale company.

Jivi; Exfoliating Face Wash; Lemongrass                  Retail Price $12

To be honest I forgot that this came in the box until I was reviewing the pricing sheet. This wasn’t an item I was particularly excited about. When I opened it up and put a little on my hand just to feel the consistency it looked like baby poop. Yes I know that is kind of extreme but it really looks disgusting. The pump is an odd one as well because when you push down on the top it’s almost like it’s supposed to come out in a foam but doesn’t. The consistency is weird as well. It’s some where between a cream and a liquid foam. The other thing I can’t stand on this is the smell! Obviously the scent is along the lines of lemongrass but there is something else with this that just makes it really hard for me to use it on my face. I also don’t feel like this has any sort of grit to it to help with exfoliating. But I will say when I used it my skin did feel pretty smooth afterward but I don’t really feel like there was anything spectacular about this face wash. This was a flop in the box for me.

So again this month there are some price discrepancies with what they have listed and what I was able to research. I’m not sure of any of these prices as I couldn’t price out two of the times because the websites I found didn’t have anything listed for the lipstick and the lip liner. As for the palette the info card stated $25 when online through IBY the palette is only $20, the eyeliner was another one that I found for $15 on the website but the info card listed for $19. The face wash was also wrong but when you look at the website there are three different options for the face wash and the special edition one retails for $18 as stated on the info card but the one we received is only $12.

Now with that being said I do still like getting this box and I really love the fact that we get a new palette each month but I know I will always do my own research to determine the actual value on the box. And even though the prices listed are not accurately stated with the websites this box still is up there in value and I do think it is still worth it.

So this concludes my July Yes, Oh YAS! box. The total value for the box this month is:

I found this value and even though the info card stated $107.

Again I still think this box is worth it and I really like it but I just know I need to keep up on my research to make sure it maintains being worth it!

Remember you can get 10% off your first box using code

And using this link Yes, Oh Yas!

I do make a small commission if you choose to sign up through my link and using my code. If your not a fan of affiliate codes you can use the link at the top of the post to sign up too! I promise I will always keep my opinions honest and my own about the products I receive!

Boxy Charm : July 2018

Boxy Charm is $21 a month for 4-5 full size products. The box is always guaranteed to a value of $100 or more each month. They offer a wide range of brands from emerging to well known. There is a beauty quiz you can take similar to Ipsy to go over your skin tone, skin type, hair color, eye color, so on and so forth. They also offer a user friendly website to allow you to review the items in your box.

Let’s get into this months box!

The theme this month is Road Trippin’. I don’t really see these products relating to that theme but hey it was still a pretty good box!

Now for the products!

Dr. Brandt- No More Baggage Retail Price $42

This was a super hyped item for this month box and for good reason! This is a really nice eye de-puffing gel. I didn’t think I really needed this until I used it! There is a nice peachy tone to it so when you apply it to the darkness under you eye it helps to combat dark circles as well. I didn’t think I would see a difference the first couple of times I used this but weirdly enough I noticed after applying it and just before applying my make up that my under eyes didn’t seem as dark and I felt like my eyes looked more open and wide awake. This is a win for this box for sure!

Note Cosmetics; Luminous Silk Compact Blusher; Shade- Desert Rose    Retail Price $11.99

This is a beautiful blush! And let me just say holy pigment! I wasn’t sure if I would like this blush because it’s not a normal shade for me but when I applied it I really loved how it looked on my skin. The formula is also really creamy which I think is in part to the argan oil that is mixed in. It applies smoothly and evenly which I enjoy. The shade is a peachy terracotta. I normally am not drawn to shades like this but I really do like how this looks. I think this will be a go to blush for me for the summer and fall.

Chella Beauty; Eyebrow Cream; Shade- Tantalizing Taupe                Retail Price $ 26

So I have gotten this product before some time ago in a subscription and I wasn’t a fan. Previously the brush that was on the one end was thick and stiff and extremely difficult to use not to mention had a hard time fitting into the other end with the product in it. With this one I can tell that they did change the brush to be some what smaller and more user friendly. However I still am not a fan of how the product is packed into the small end of the tube. It’s still difficult to get to and the brush still doesn’t fit nicely into the tube to get the brow cream. I did give this a try just to see if anything had changed with the formula and I feel like this has gotten much creamier than the last time I used it but I still am not a fan of this product. Especially not for $26! I feel like the idea is good but the execution is lacking. The shade is also slightly dark for me so not a product I will be using much more.

Wander Beauty; Unlashed Volume and Curl Mascara                 Retail Price $24

Yay for another mascara with a brush/wand I like!!! I wasn’t totally sure that this was a mascara until I pulled it out of the box and read the tube. It’s definitely interesting packaging for a mascara but I do really like this so far. The brush has a slight curl to it to help with lifting and volumizing your lashes. The formula is nice, not to liquidy and not thick which I appreciate. I don’t know that this is something so spectacular that it will replace my current favorites but I do like it. I do notice that I get a little more curl but nothing crazy. I thankfully have pretty long and curly lashes so I don’t need to curl my lashes with a curler, I am lucky enough to apply mascara and be good to go.  I would say this is a good mascara but I think there are better options for better pricing.

Tarte Cosmetics; Ready Set Radiant Skin Mist  Retail Price $25

This is a really nice setting spray! The mist is super fine making for a really nice application. I have only used this a few times since I got it just because I haven’t been able to test out new products due to needing my make up looking great for some specific events. But now that I have used it I really like it! I was a little worried in the beginning because this is a radiant spray but it don’t look overly glowy or dewy. I feel like I have a healthy glow to my skin. The scent on this is also kind of interesting. It has a very fresh and citrus scent to it that I don’t mind. I for sure will keep testing this out to see how it wears through out the day. So far I really do like the mister and fresh feeling on my face!

And with that we conclude my July Boxy Charm. The over all value for the box is….

So still a great value for such a small month price of $21! I will say this wasn’t my most favorite box from Boxy Charm but it did have good products. I feel like that can happen with different subscriptions though where you love one month but the next it’s just so-so. I still really love Boxy Charm this just wasn’t a home run box for me this month.

I can’t wait to see what next months box looks like!

Thank you for stopping by and keep an eye out for what might be up around the curve!

Ipsy Review : July 2018

For those of you who don’t know about this subscription bag it is  $10 and contain 5 deluxe size samples (and sometimes full size products)  each month.

Ipsy starts with a beauty quiz that asks you questions about different things you like as well as your different features (i.e. Blonde hair, green eyes, fair skin). Each month you also can review the products your received; so if you love something you let them know and if you hate something you let them know.

Lets get into this months bag!

img_1349This months bag is cute! I love the iridescent blue color. The fabric is feels like swim material which is interesting. This one is slightly smaller than bags have been in the past but I really think this would be cute to put in you beach bag to keep things clean and dry!

Now for the products!

BKR Pairs Water Balm

This stuff is so nice! When I initially pulled this out of my bag I wasn’t super excited about it because I really just thought it was another lip balm that I would throw in the drawer and get to later. However when I used it the first time over night I was shocked! My lips felt amazing and looked incredible! They were super soft and plush and ready for my favorite liquid lipstick. The nice thing about this is that a little bit goes along way. I just barely have to apply anything to my lips and it spreads amazingly! I have been using this almost every night since I got it!

Steve Laurant; Blush in Rose all Day

The nice thing about getting products like these that I know I won’t ever use all of them so I get to try out different brands without the commitment to purchasing a full size of something I know I won’t use in total. Now for this blush. The color is a beautiful rosey pink and adds just the right amount of color to the cheeks. One thing I did notice about this blush is that it does have some kick up when I dip my brush into it but nothing to terrible and as long as I tap my brush off I don’t end up looking like I came straight out of the 80’s. The formula isn’t anything crazy special but I do like this blush and I think it will get good use in my collection.

The Balm Cosmetic’s; Bodaclous Eye Shadow from the Nude Beach Palette

Finally!! A full size item from The Balm! I didn’t think it would every happen but FINALLY it has come about! Now I should say I don’t know that this is truly a full size but it’s much bigger than any sample size we have gotten from The Balm in the past. This is a really nice warm transition shade. In the pan the shade actually looks darker than what it actually applies. This also has some kick up when I put my brush into the pan and the shade does seem pretty powdery to me. I had to dip in a few times to really build up the color which isn’t a bad thing but not as pigmented as some other shadows I have. I really do like this shade however because it helps to warm up any crease when applied.

H2O + Beauty; Oasis Ultra Hydrating Cream

I have only used this cream once and it was really nice. I’m not the biggest fan of the smell as it’s got a perfumy smell to it. I’m not really overly hyped up about moisturizers because ever since I have found my Glow Recipe Watermelon Juice nothing else really compares to me. I will continue to try this out and see if it changes my life but at the moment it’s just another moisturizer.

Mellow Cosmetics; Cream Matte Lipstick in Shade Candy Floss

Ipsy doing it again with a full size lipstick! I have gotten a Mellow Cosmetics lipstick in the past and it was one of my favorites to wear in the fall! This one is so much fun! I don’t know how often I will get to wear it because of how bright it is and I don’t like to wear this kind of bright color at work. The formula is really nice and this is really a beautiful. I find that this is more of a stain finish than say a cream matte in my opinion but none the less this is a great lipstick and an awesome full size product!

And that concludes my Ipsy bag for the month of July! I kind of have mixed feelings about my bag this month just because it’s not something I am totally swooning over but it is still a nice little collection of items. I think I may need to go in and redo my beauty profile just to freshen things up.

What did you all get in your Ipsy bags this month? Did you absolutely love all of your products or did you have some duds in your bag as well?

Thank you for stopping by and keep an eye out for what might be up around the curve!

Posh Mark Haul : July 2018

I am so excited I can bring you my second haul from Posh Mark!

Some of these items were ones that I had been watching for a little while waiting for them to drop in price before I made the purchase and a couple of them just happened to drop the price not long after I found them and they fit right in my price range!

I have found that I do like to wait for the seller to offer a discount because usually this comes with discounted shipping which makes it really worth while for me!

So now for the items I got this time around!

P.S. these were all ordered over a couple week time span, not all at once.

Coral and Floral Dress by ALYX

This is a dress I had been sitting on for some time because I wasn’t sure that I really needed another dress and I wasn’t super sold on it because in the photo’s online it looked more orangey than coral and I was worried I wouldn’t like it or that it wouldn’t fit. But when the seller dropped the price to $9 I couldn’t resist. This is one I did pay full shipping on but it was $15 total for this adorable dress!  I was also pleasantly surprised at the quality of this dress and that it was New With Tags! This dress is made of very nice material. The skirt has more of a heavy quality fabric which makes it really nice to wear because there is just enough weight behind the skirt that it hangs very nicely and has a very luxury feel to it. I really love the A-Line fit of this dress because it really is flattering for my body shape. This was such a great find and I am so glad I snagged it when it went on sale!

Green Floral Dress from Spruce and Sage

I wasn’t really sure that I liked this dress but the more I sat on it in my liked items I really started to like it and thought that it would be a nice addition to my wardrobe because I don’t have a lot of green in it. This is another A-Line style dress. The material has more of an all over flow and stretch to it. I really like the floral pattern throughout the whole dress because it creates a nice dimension against the Kelly green color of this dress. I got this one for $10 with discounted shipping of $4.99. This dress does have a small snag on the back of it that they buyer listed but when I pulled it out of the shipping package I couldn’t even tell. I have yet to wear this one to work but I really love the loose and flowy style of this dress!

Purple Floral Skirt from Torrid

I love to look for Torrid items on Poshmark because I know what size I wear with them and I really like how the clothes fit me and the quality of them. This was another item I had been sitting on for some time and when the price dropped to $10 plus discounted shipping I couldn’t say no! I really love how flowy this skirt is as well. I was slightly worried that this was going to be too short to wear to work but I was pleasantly surprised that not only did it fit comfortably but it also came in just above my knee. The even better part about this lovely skirt is that it’s cut to be longer in the back than in the front just ever so slightly so that it actually covers my butt!img_1309 Girls with big butts understand the struggle of skirts that are the same length all the way around and when you put it on your butt might possibly fall out just because the skirt doesn’t fall nicely over a big butt. I think that was probably the most exciting thing about this skirt for me! And you can’t really beat $15 for a Torrid skirt!

Red Patten Heels from Hype

One thing I have wanted to find for some time now is a good pair of red heels! I haven’t been able to find the perfect pair just yet and but I have been looking. I came across these cute little shoes and the seller dropped the price on these to $8 plus shipping and I thought I would give them a go. When I got them I tried them on and even though they are a size 10 my toes don’t fit well in the shoes. I was really disappointed when I had to squish my foot into the shoe and they were super uncomfortable to wear. But the great thing about Poshmark is you can turn around and resell these and attempt to make some money back. I haven’t listed them yet but I’m hoping to do so in the near future.

Steve Madden Red Pumps

Yes that is right I got a pair of Steve Maddens for $12 plus shipping!!!! I couldn’t believe it! These bad boys fit like a glove too! Plus they haven’t been worn outside! I was so excited when I got these in the mail! One of the reasons the seller had discounted the price so much was due to a couple of ink stains on the toe and heel of one shoe. I personally wasn’t really worried about the stains and thought I might look up some home remedies to find out if I could lessen the stain or get rid of it all together. But to be honest I sometimes get scuffs on my shoes so I’m not really worried about it. Plus they are Steve Madden! I never thought I would own a pair of those in my lifetime!

And with that I conclude my 2nd Poshmark haul! I really enjoy the website and find it sometimes addicting with all of the deals you can get! I have to rein myself in sometimes to not buy too many items but I really like how easy it is to use and what a great community there is on the site! I for sure recommend signing up and giving it a try!

Thank you for stopping by and keep an eye out for what might be up around the curve!

Wedding Wednesday : July 2018

For this months Wedding Wednesday I have decided I would put together a few tips and tricks and make up tutorial for all of the brides out there who are doing their make up themselves. I am kind of a control freak so I wanted to make sure everything was perfect as far as my hair and make up went and no one knows my hair or face like I do so I practiced for months leading up to the big day to make sure I had everything exactly how I wanted it! I thought I would share with you all what I found helpful and my go to bridal make up look.

And as always I am by no means a professional but I do enjoy doing hair and make up so I like to share what I find works. I have combination to oily skin and stick straight color treated hair. In this post I am just going to talk about make up but if you like it let me know and I will do a hair tutorial with a couple of different styles in one of the next months Wedding Wednesdays.

Lets get started!

One of the most important thing to remember when getting ready for the big day is to take care of yourself. This means eating good, taking care of your skin and making sure your giving yourself the best canvas to apply makeup too when the big day arrives. I can’t stress enough having a nailed down skin care routine so that you know what works for you skin. You don’t want to be experimenting two weeks before the wedding to end up with a breakout you have to figure out how to cover.

So I wanted to start out with a couple of products I recently found and have been loving!

Glow Recipe; Watermelon Set

I have never been so in love with how my skin feels after using these two products! I absolutely love using the sleeping mask over night and waking up to hydrated and supple skin! I highly recommend giving this a shot to add to your skin care routine. I personally have oily combo skin and I a beauty guru I follow with dry skin uses this like crazy and has the same results! And this stuff smells amazing on top of it all!

With this duo I would use the sleeping mask the night before and then the moisturizer about 30 minutes before you apply your make up so that it has had time to sink into your skin. I also recommend not wearing make up the whole day prior to the wedding so that you have a nice clean, fresh face to work with on the day of.

Now when it comes to the actually make up I recommend starting with the eyes just so that if you have any fall out or if you have anything mess up it doesn’t mess up your face make up. You should find an eye shadow primer that works well for you or you can always use concealer. img_1376A good eye shadow primer is this one from Wet and Wild. This is both affordable and good quality. Some other really good eye shadow primers are Urban Decay Primer Potion or the Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I personally like to use my concealer just because it’s easier and covers all of my discoloration on my eyelids.

Once I have applied my concealer/shadow primer I like to set it with translucent powder or a skin colored shadow just so that when I start to blend all of my shadows it’s smooth and even.img_1375 My go to powder that is both amazing and inexpensive is the Coty Airspun powder in translucent or naturally neutral. This powder is amazing for baking under the eyes, setting the whole face or setting concealer.

Now for the shadow’s I used to create a classic and simple bridal look!

These four shadow’s are all the from Colour Pop and are $5 a piece. Sometimes they do run specials that help cut costs but these are some of the more inexpensive options for shadows that are also really high quality. There are also some other quad style shadow palettes that Colour Pop offers that would make a great look that they have for $12 so plenty of good affordable options. The shades I have here are Bel Air, Conundrum, Noche and Snake Eyes.

Another great palette that offers great shadows for wedding make up that are high quality is the Jaclyn Hill palette with Morphe. I used that palette for my wedding and it was so nice to have option incase something wasn’t blending well.

So starting with Bel Air and a fluffy brush you will want to work in windshield wiper and circular motions to blend in the transition shade into the crease. I like to pick the lightest brown color to really blow out in the crease so that everything blends nicer on top of it.

Next I add Conundrum into the crease to deepen it up. You can use the same fluffy brush or you can use a new one but any fluffy brush will do just fine to help add color to the outer portion of the eye and add depth and dimension.

From there I like to add in Noche to help darken up the outer corner and really give depth to the look. I don’t add very much in the beginning because I like to build up the dark shades. I do switch brushes when I’m adding in this shade to a smaller more domed shape brush to help with placement of the color and making sure I get it precisely where I want it.

Now for the shimmer shade! Not everyone wants to have the shimmer on the lid and sometimes depending upon your eye shape a shimmer shadow might not be the best option. I personally love to had shimmer shade to the lid because not only do they brighten up a look but who doesn’t need a little sparkle in their life!

Tip!: When applying a shimmer shadow wet your brush with setting spray before applying the shimmer shadow. It will make the shade pop even more on the lid helps with not having fall out as well.

After I have applied the shimmer shade to my lids I go back in with Conundrum to help just blend all of the shadow’s together in the crease, making sure there are no harsh lines.

Now for the face! Just as important as primer for your lids are primer for your face is just as important as this is what preps your face for foundation application.

My newest love and recommendation to all for summer time or long lasting make up is this Primed and Peachy Cooling Matte Skin Perfecting Primer. This stuff is amazing! It melts into the skin and combats oil. Ever since I purchased this it has been my go to primer! Now this is a more expensive primer so if you want to find a more drug store friendly option Wet and Wild’s Photo Focus face primer is a really good one.

Once you have primed now comes foundation. This is another area where you will want to pick something that is your tried and true, all day wear, perfect shade foundation. If you don’t have one it’s time to start shopping around to find one that will work wonders for you. I personally used a mix of Milana Conceal and Perfect and Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless foundations. img_1379Not only did I mix these to get my perfect shade but I also mixed these to get the best coverage and all day wear for the big day.

My newest obsession is the Peach Perfect Comfort Matte Foundation! Like I have said before I have oily/ combo skin and this foundation is amazing! I have worn it all day and in different climates and I always end up looking amazing! The coverage is medium to full which is nice to allow it to be built up.

Another favorite that I find holds up really well for me is theimg_1373 Colour Pop Pores No More Foundation. This one is a more inexpensive option compared to the peach perfect. I also really like the Wet and Wild Photo Focus Foundation  as another inexpensive option.

Tip!: Keep in mind to match your foundation to your body. If you plan on getting a spray tan before the big day make sure you have had this done before and that you have a foundation shade that matches! And always match your foundation to your next and chest. You don’t want to look like a floating head.

Now that your foundation has been blended out it’s time for concealer. With concealer you want to get a couple of shades lighter than your foundation so that you can not only conceal but brighten up your face as well.img_1374 A favorite of mine is the Maybelline Age Rewind in the brightener shade. The pink undertone compliments my skin tone and helps to brighten up the center of my face.

Tip!: To highlight your face you want to apply you concealer to any where you want to bring lightness to. I like to put mine on the under eyes in a triangle, next to and around my nose, on my cupid’s bow, a little on my chin and the center of my forehead.

From here I will blend out the concealer into my foundation. At this point you also can cream contour is that is something you are comfortable with and if you really like the way it looks on your face. I personally didn’t want to cream contour but just used powder to give a more blown out and natural shadow look.

Now it’s time for powder! I like to set my under eye’s first followed by my whole face. I personally find it important to set img_1375my whole face with powder to help with blending out my other powder products like bronzer, blush and highlight. For this I use my tried and trusty Coty Airspun Powder in translucent. This really is a nice powder and is only $5 for a pretty large container. I have been using this for some time now and I have only purchased one other shade and still have both of them that I use almost every day! Great powder option!

Once I have put powder on my face I go in with bronzer, blush and highlight! My newest favorite bronzer, highlighter duo is a new one I got from Colour Pop.

This is the Step Right Up Duo that was release with the Fame and Fortune Palette. I really liked how the bronzer is more on the neutral/cool side so that it actually looks like a shadow if I want to contour or it can buff out and make a really light bronzer. img_1383The highlighter is also very blinding if build up but also applies softly and beautifully! Some brides might not want to highlight but I really like to add a highlight to give a glow to the skin so that you look like your radiating.  Then I like to add my all time favorite blush Luminoso by Milani. It’s a very flattering and beautiful peachy blush with the ever so slight sheen when applied! I find that this compliments many skin tones and gives a slight color to the cheeks.

At this point before I apply the finishing touches of mascara and lipstick I like to apply my setting spray. Some great options are img_1380the Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray, the Morphe Setting Spray, the L’Oreal Infallible Makeup Extender Setting Spray and my personal new favorite the Peach Mist Mattifying Setting Spray. This is an amazing setting spray to use for hot weather that will keep you matte all day long. I really love all of these setting sprays I just happen to be really loving the Peach Mist at the moment.

The one thing to remember if you purchase this setting spray is because of the mattifying properties you have to shake this spray really, really well so that all of the contents get mixed in together and you don’t end up with little while splotches. I have made that mistake once but won’t again.

So now that the face is set this is when I like to apply mascara and lipstick. Now for the wedding day I strongly, strongly recommend water proof mascara. My personal suggestion is the L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Water Proof mascara. No only is this mascara amazing to use but it also is water proof so when those happy tears start to flow you aren’t left looking like a raccoon!

Now when it comes to lips this is all personal preference as far as color goes. I personally love bold lips and wore a medium pink color when I got married.

Tip!: Applying a lip liner all over the lips first will ensure that even through eating and drinking that you will still have lip color left even when you apply a lipstick on top of it.

The other recommendation that I have when it comes to lipstick for the big day is choosing matte liquid lipstick. These tend to last the longest and with the lip liner underneath you don’t run the risk of having too much lipstick loss over the course of the day and evening.

For this look today I chose a soft peachy pink lip color from Colour Pop (as you can tell one of my favorite brands-also super affordable). img_1394

So for the finished look!

My biggest Tip when it comes to doing your own makeup for your wedding day is

Practice, Practice, Practice!

I can’t stress enough how important it is to get the routine down and make sure that you know how each product will react with your face on the big day! So this means testing in all different weather and doing various activities. I was testing out make up 4 months prior to the big day to make sure I had everything down to an art!

I hope you enjoyed my take on a bridal make up tutorial. Again I am no professional but I do enjoy make up and I’m all about doing things on a budget!

If you enjoyed this tutorial let me know and I will try and do a few simple wedding day hair tutorials for you as well including products that will help with making your hair stay put all day!

Sephora Haul Product Update

Now that I have had some time to test out all of the other products I have purchased  in my Sephora hauls I thought it was a great time to post a review with my thoughts on all of these goodies!

The items that stick out from my order first are the :

Glow Recipe Watermelon Pink Moisturizer and Glow Sleeping Mask

Both of these products are so amazing! I am in love! I have really oily skin so I have a hard time finding moisturizers that I love but these are incredibly amazing! The sleeping mask can turn my rough patches smooth and makes my skin feel amazing when I wake up in the morning and the moisturizer sits under makeup beautifully! I have found my brand new favorite duo!

Stila Glitter On The Go Liquid Eye Shadow Set

I absolutely love these!! This was the best purchase I could have made! For the price you can’t beat the this value set because you get three small size shades for the price of one large one! I mean how can you beat that! And the best part is you only use a small amount at a time! These really go along way and add the most amazing sparkle and shine to the eye. I now understand why so many people rave about these! They are worth every penny!

Marc Jacobs Beauty Enamored With Shine Vol.2

Another value set of mini’s that was so worth every penny! I got my first Marc Jacobs gloss around Christmas when I had a gift card and I fell in love with how beautiful the shade was and how amazing it looked so when I saw this value set I couldn’t say no! These mini sizes are great for carrying in my purse with me and the color variety is so nice to use with almost any different lip color! This is a must have set!

Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain Liquid Lipsticks

An awesome free bonus in my order were these two liquid lipsticks from the Sephora Collection! The shades are so much fun and super wearable for me and the formula and consistency is really nice! for getting these two babies free I am surely not complaining but I really love these lippies! Such a great addition in my haul!

IGK Smoke & Mirrors Conditioning Cleansing Oil and Mistress Hydrating Hair Balm

I felt so specially getting these two full size hair products free in my haul as well! One thing I do want to note is that I believe Mistress product was renamed sometime in the time I got this and when I’m writing this because the packaging and line are the same but the product name is different. Any how, both of these hair products are awesome! I love to use the cleansing oil if it’s been one of those heavy dry shampoo weeks and it makes my hair feel smooth and soft and helps some with the detangling of my damaged ends. The Anti-Frizz Leave in Conditioner or Hydrating Hair Balm is really nice for helping with the hair drying process! I don’t blow dry my hair often because I have color treated hair but when I use this my hair always feels so soft and smooth. I really love these two products! But the price on them it slightly steep so I don’t know that I would pay the full price for these.

My other items were all in the peach collection which I review last month and you can read that here.  I also got quite a few samples I haven’t really kept track of so we will worry about those at a different time. I hope you liked the follow up to the products I got in my Sephora haul!

Colour Pop Haul : July 2018

Yes it is another Colour Pop Haul! What can I say! They have been dropping so many awesome products I couldn’t help but make a few orders!

So here is my most recent haul and review on the items I got!

Fortune Eyeshadow Palette

This palette is the sister to the Fame palette that I got in my last haul! Fortune has all warm tone colors, while the Fame palette has all cool tone shades. I was really excited to get the warm tones as I use a lot of warm tones now that I have learned to blend and build and make dimensional eye look! When I was beginning to dabble in make up I used to think of myself as strictly a cool tone makeup user and lover but I have finally seen the light and joined the warm tone mafia! This palette has so many beautiful warm tones both as matte and shimmer shades. The shade Miser is one of the most interesting shades in the palette with a warm terracotta red base and a duo-chrome blue-green shift! It looked amazing on the lid applied wet! I have been using the palette non-stop since I got it and I can’t put it down!

Next up we have the new dropped items from brand! These we all had been waiting for!

No Filter Foundation- Shade Fair 30

The world has been waiting for this for some time and here it is! The beautiful and amazingly priced foundation! First off I love how they came out with such an amazing shade range! I think they have 42 or something like that shades in both warm and cool tones. There are so many available to suit almost any skin tone and color. The website also offers a great matching tool that offers the ability to pick a shade you are in a popular foundation and it will tell you what your best Colour Pop Foundation match will be. I used this tool and was so impressed that it gave me my perfect shade! They also offer a “Find My Shade” option as well which allows you to pick you undertone and it gives you comparable options. I was so impressed with how well this matched and the formula is amazing! This is a medium to full coverage foundation which I love because one layer will cover my redness and it’s also buildable if I feel like I need more coverage in a certain area! I also love that a little bit goes a long way with this foundation. I normally can cover my whole face on a normal day with just one pump. The finish is what I would call a satin finish where it’s not super matte but not dewy either. This is quite literally my new favorite foundation and for only $12 you can’t beat it!

No Filter Sheer Matte Pressed Powder- Shade Fair

The next item part of their new No Filter Complexion line is this pressed powered. I have loved using this to set the outer area’s of my face. The nice thing about this powder is that it layers amazing over the liquid foundation without looking cakey! I have been loving this powder. I also like to use this when I am having a no make up make up day and just want to help with my redness on my cheeks and just even out my skin. This is a very sheer coverage powder but is quickly becoming my new favorite for setting my face! Oh and did I mention it’s only $9!

No Filter Setting Powder – Shade- Translucent

Talk about an amazing line up! They came out with three different shades of setting powders; translucent, banana, and translucent deep. This is a fantastic baking powder! I have been using it to set my concealer and I have been so impressed! It’s very finely milled and applies really smoothly. It also doesn’t look cakey on the skin which I appreciate and it really sets my make up! This is such an asset to their complexion line!

No Filter Concealer- Shade Fair 02

With the new launch of the No Filter Complexion collection they revamped their concealer shade range. I hadn’t had a chance to try out the concealer yet even though it’s been out for some time and is so highly raved about! And I can say I completely agree with all of they hype! This is only $6 and the formula is incredible. It’s not only light weight but also very creamy and pigmented! The shade I got unfortunately was waaaaay to light for me! Haha! I like my concealer to highlight as well as conceal and I thought I would just pick my own shade rather than listening to the match tool and unfortunately I picked wrong! What’s worse is that I ordered another shade Fair 06 because it’s darker and I thought it would be perfect for my skin color and again I was wrong! Fair 06 is still super light for my skin. It’s better than Fair 02 but still not the shade that I like. I am going to probably place another order and try out Light 12 to see if this is more of the shade I was looking for.

Large Foundation Brush

As part of the promotion they offered a free foundation brush with the purchase of the foundation. I haven’t gotten any of the new Colour Pop Brushes since they came out with their new line of brushes. I really love how high quality this brush is! I have been using it to apply my foundation before I blend it out with a blender and I love how evenly and nicely it applies to my face! I really need to get more of their brushes!

Amber Crystal Setting Spray

So I had just gotten this before it went out of stock. When these initially came out as the crystal line I thought the whole line was really cool but I wasn’t really on board with it all. But I thought since I was ordering a bunch of face products I should give the setting spray a shot as well. I got the Amber spray because it is supposed to have a refreshing peach sent. I however can’t seem to smell the peach when I use it. It does have a nice light smell which I like but the spray itself just isn’t a good one for me. When I have used it I notice that my face ends up much more oily by the end of the day and it really defeats the purpose of a setting spray for me if I’m getting shinny by the end of the day. On another note the sprayer on this little bottle isn’t very good! I have to hold the bottle like a foot away from my face to get it to make a nice fine mist and not shoot straight out onto my face. I am going to keep trying to use this but I don’t think it will stick around for long in my collection.

This concludes yet another Colour Pop haul and I am so impressed with their new No Filter Complexion line! I have been wearing the foundation very day for work because it is such a nice match for my skin and I absolutely love it! I will hopefully get the correct shade of concealer soon but until then I will keep trying to make what I have work!

Let me know if you have tried out the Colour Pop foundation or powders and what you think! Did the shade match tools work for you?

Changes Coming in July

Changes are what I’m hoping I will see in the month of July!

This month I have made a deal with one of my coworkers that we won’t eat fried or fast food, we won’t drink soda or buy latte’s. Nothing crazy and not too hard by any means!

I also want to focus on cutting out bread and carbs in general to see if this will help me on my journey to be a happier, healthier me! I’m really hoping these subtle and simple changes will add up to make a difference in the coming months.

One of my big over arching goals over the next six months is to loose 50 lbs. by the end of the year. Starting small and building as I go are the best ways to get to this goal and that’s what this month is for!

So I have started with some small meal prepping but I’m hoping to post more about my meal prepping moving forward into the next couple of weeks.

So for the month of July Goals:

No purchasing lattes.

No fried food.

No fast food.

Limit bread.

No soda.

Walk a mile at least three times a week.

Meal prep four weeks of the month breakfasts and lunches.

Not only will these small goals help with my physical health but this will also help with my financial health! I have been keeping a budget book and boy it has been enlightening as to where a lot of my extra money goes! I plan on doing a post in the coming month all about my budget book and how I plan things out and keep track of my budget in order to save more money for future purchases and emergencies!

Here’s to seeing some change come in the month of July and here’s to giving it my best!

What are you goals for the month of July? What challenges have you had?

Book of the Month : July 2018

I hope you all are loving book of the month as much as I am! I have found it so nice to take some time away and get caught up on some much needed reading!

The book this month is one I found in the sale bin at Barnes and Noble. The light blue cover and title stuck out to me the most.

This month’s book of the month is Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling

I didn’t know that this book is a series of short essay’s from Mindy about her career in television, her love life and the different struggles she faced to make it where she has. The best part of this book to me is the feeling while reading is that you are just purely having a conversation with Mindy.

There are so many funny references and jokes and just so much realness throughout the whole book I found it hard to put it down. One of the chapters even goes through a typical day in her life with photo’s included. And let me just say she is a busy woman!

The bits I loved most about this book is that throughout the whole of it she talks about how she overcomes stereotypes of being a minority woman that doesn’t fit the typical Hollywood type yet she has worked hard, busted her butt and gained the confidence to get to where she is now! She has faced adversity and people telling her no but with help from friends and confidence she has overcome and become not only a successful writer but also the star of her own TV show The Mindy Project.

In the final chapter titled “Why Not Me?”, Mindy talks about how she found her confidence and how it has helped her and for other young women to believe in themselves and to push to follow their dreams you can make it too.

I really enjoy this witting and spunky book of essays! I find it fun and so real! I hope you get a chance to check it out and let me know your thoughts!

Thank you for stopping by and keep an eye out for what might be up around the curve!
