Ipsy Review : September

For those of you who don’t know about this subscription bag it is  $10 and contain 5 deluxe size samples (and sometimes full size products)  each month.

Ipsy starts with a beauty quiz that asks you questions about different things you like as well as your different features (i.e. Blonde hair, green eyes, fair skin). Each month you also can review the products your received; so if you love something you let them know and if you hate something you let them know.

Lets get into this months bag!

img_2030

The bag this month was a super cute black and champagne colored canvas material with these adorable lashes on them! I think this is super adorable!

Now for the products!

img_2031

The Crème Shop; 2-in-1 Facial Foaming Cleanser

Cleansers are fun to get in bags to try out and see how you like them. I always enjoy the ones that foam up because I like that I can see it working on my face. The Crème Shop offers a few different options for this facial cleanser and this one happens to be the brightening version. I find it hard to really give thoughts on skin care just because it takes time to really make a difference in how my skin looks so I will use this and maybe update later on if this is really great or really terrible for that matter.

img_2036

Luxie Beauty; #140 Tappered Blender

YAY! for another brush! This is a unique brush for my collection as I don’t normally gravitate toward these kind of blenders but I am always down to give it a shot. Luxie is a super nice brand and this brush alone is $20 so that in itself makes Ipsy so worth it!

Benefit Cosmetic’s; Hoola Matte Bronzer

I was so excited to get this in the bag this month. I have always wanted to give this bronzer a try but never wanted to spend the full amount on it. This is a really nice sample too coming in this cute plastic, snap closure packaging. The formula on this is really nice and smooth and creamy. And a little bit goes a really long way which I appreciate because this sample will last me some time! The only thing I’m not liking about this is that it does come off a little orangey/warm on my skin. I think this might because I’m starting to pale out now that we are in the fall weather but I will still use it. It applies beautifully to the skin and lasts through out the day!

Trestique; Mini Lip Glaze; Shade- Mumbai Magenta

In past months we have gotten pencils from Trestique before and they are really nice and creamy. I think this is a super fun color but kind of wish I would have gotten the other color option because it was more of a dark berry color which I love to wear in the fall. This is fun but will be more of a spring/summer color for me.

img_2032

Elizabeth Mott; Thank Me Later Mattifying Face Primer

I enjoy trying out new primers and this one is really nice! I was so impressed with how this actually keeps my face semi matte through out the day and I was pleasantly surprised that my foundation around my nose and mouth didn’t break up like it can during the day sometimes. This does have a silicony consistency which I’m not totally a fan of but I really like this and it was nice to take with me while I was traveling this last weekend!

And that concludes my Ipsy glam bag for the month of September! I really love my bag this month! Ipsy has been one of my favorite subscriptions and it just keeps getting better. They even announced that in the coming future they are releasing a full size product box that will be $25 a month. I’m not sure if I want to get that one too but I will think about it and let you all know when it becomes available.

What did you get in your bag this month? Have you seen the new full size box that’s supposed to come out? Are you going to subscribe? Leave me a comment below!

Boxy Charm : August 2018

Boxy Charm is $21 a month for 4-5 full size products. The box is always guaranteed to a value of $100 or more each month. They offer a wide range of brands from emerging to well known. There is a beauty quiz you can take similar to Ipsy to go over your skin tone, skin type, hair color, eye color, so on and so forth. They also offer a user friendly website to allow you to review the items in your box.

Lets get into this months box!

img_1721The theme this month was Life of the Party! This was to highlight the palette included this month called party animal!

Now for the goods!

Laura Lee Los Angeles; Party Animal Pressed Pigment Palette           Retail Price $19

Frist off I want to say that Boxy Charm is killing it! A couple of months ago they had a palette that was created by one of their very own employee’s and this month they have included a palette from a YouTube creator which I think is a first! I think it’s so awesome that Laura Lee was able to partner with Boxy Charm with this new palette and I am so excited we received it this month! Now I know a lot of people won’t like this because it’s not very wearable and it’s super bright and “out there” but isn’t that the fun of getting new things in subscriptions to try them out and if you like the brand try more from the brand? I am really excited for this because it gives me an option to play with more color and I really like the pink and blues and purples for a look. This really makes me want to be more creative! I do have to work harder to figure out how to work with the yellow and orange just because these aren’t colors I use regularly and aren’t my favorite to be experimental with any way but I am really looking forward to experimenting. Now when I swatched these shadows they felt slightly stiff. The pigment is there but the texture is just off for some reason. These don’t feel as creamy and buttery as other shadows I have played with and the purple swatched funny on my hand. I’m hoping to play with this over the weekend when I don’t have any where to be so I can see if I can pull off a really beautiful and colorful look. I will try to put in an update if I have created a look using palette.

Adesse New York; Sweet Almond Cuticle Oil                                           Retail Price $18.00

This was kind of a different addition to the box this month. We don’t normally get nail care items but I was really excited for this. I have recently started doing my own nails (look for a post about this coming soon) and I absolutely love putting on a cuticle oil to help my nail beds clean up a bit nicer. For some reason now that I have just my natural nails I find that I have more areas where my cuticles ripe and tear. But I’m hoping that in a few months my nails will start to grown out nice and my cuticles will be looking fresh and nice!

Bang Beauty; Gel Eyeliner; Shade-Chocolate                                        Retail Price $22

I’m not really the biggest fan of gel liners but I’m always willing to give them a try. I like the fact that this isn’t the standard black eyeliner like we usually get in subscriptions. The only thing that was kind of concerning with this is the formula was kind of stiff and when I put my finger in it to get a feel for it I was hoping it would be creamier. And as you can see in the swatch above it came off a little patchy. I am going to try and see if this just needs to be warmed up some to give it the max pigment pay out so we will see. This is something else I will try and update once I have played with it some.

House of Lashes; Siren                                                                                    Retail Price $9

These are not my favorite. I am not much of a lash wearer but if I can find some that are easy to use and look nice then I will always give them a shot. These, however are not worth the time if you are an inexperienced lash wearer like I am. They have a very thin, clear band that is hard to get set on the lash line. I also don’t like the shape of these because they look like I am wearing fake lashes and I have a hard time getting them to blend into my natural lashes. I personally don’t like playing with lashes much and when they are hard to apply like these I really don’t like them. I’ll just stick with my blessed natural lashes and mascara.

img_1716

Wander Beauty; Baggage Claim Gold Eye Masks                     Retail Price $13

Yay for fun masks! With items like these I don’t normally buy them for myself so when I get them in subscriptions I get super excited. These are super fun and luxe! The gold foiling on the off side is awesome, I feel so bougie. I did get a chance to try them out and I really like how they made my under eyes feel. I looked more awake and super hydrated.

Smashbox Cosmetics; Be Legendary Lipstick; Shade- Mulberry              Retail Price $21

I was super excited to get this lipstick in the box this month! There were a few other options I could have gotten and I’m really glad this is the one I got! It’s a really wearable color with a nice cream finish. I think this is going to be my go to color for the fall for a wearable look. The formula is really smooth and the lipstick glides on without any skipping or tugging on my lips. I now understand all of the hype with these lipsticks and maybe in the future I may try another shade.

And with that I conclude my Boxy Charm for the month of August! I have really been loving all the new items that are coming out and heading into the holiday season I can’t wait to see what we have coming our way!

The value of my box this month is:

$102

Again well worth the value and a great subscription box to get. If you have been even considering getting Boxy Charm, take the plunge and get it! It’s well worth the money and gives you an opportunity to try different brands and products that we don’t normally get to try.

Boxy Charm is also coming out with a new Boxy Luxe edition that will come out every quarter and if I understand it correctly would be $28 on top of the $21 for the month but would have a value of $300 or more. The first one comes out in September so I will check it out and see what it’s all about.

Thank you for stopping by and keep an eye out for what might be up around the curve!

Yes, Oh YAS! : August 2018

Yes, Oh Yas! is a new monthly subscription box ! They offer 3-7 full size products each month for $14.99 plus $3.99 shipping. This box allows you to discover new make up and beauty brands.

Yes, Oh Yas! actually reached out to me to become an affiliate for their subscription box.  They did give me a code to share with you all for 10% off you first box.

yesohyas.com

CODE: CURVYE

I will always keep my opinions on the products honest, true and my own.

So lets get into this months box!

img_1701This month our theme was Cali Love and all about this gorgeous palette we got in the box! Lets now get into the products!

Beauty Creations Cosmetics; Cali Set Eyeshadow Palette                       Retail Price $17

When this palette was sneaked on the Yes, Oh Yas! Instagram my jaw just dropped this is such a gorgeous palette! The shades are all ones I use daily and love to create everyday looks with! I know the bright magenta Valley Girl shade might seem intimidating but in reality it blends beautifully and adds so much depth to a look. The formula on all of this shadows is incredible! They are buttery and creamy and smooth and amazing! And the pigment! This will quickly head up to my everyday rack as I will be using this all the time! This palette is such a great product to receive in the box!

Sorme Treatment Cosmetics; Natural Green Tea Blotting Papers         Retail Price $10-15

Sorme is a whole sale brand so when I look for different places to purchase these I found a variety of price ranges. We have gotten products form Sorme in quite a few of our most recent boxes and I really like the brand. It’s a really high quality brand. I personally haven’t every tried blotting papers (I normally just use coffee filters). These are really nice! I have been packing them around in my purse with me since I got them and I love to use them in the afternoons when my skin is getting just slightly oily in my T-zone. The thing I like the most about these blotting papers is that I can press them on my face and my make up isn’t disturbed. You also get a good amount of sheets in the package which is always super nice!

img_1697

Masker Aide; Pre Party Prep Sheet Mask Retail Price $5

I am always a sucker for sheet masks so I really enjoy getting them in subscriptions. However I wish this would have been a set rather than just one. This will be added to my pamper myself collection of masks that I use on days when I’m in need of some rest and relaxation.

Laqa & Co; Cloud Lips Lip Stick; Shade- Cherub                                        Retail Price $17

I have received one of these lipsticks before from Laqa & Co in a darker shade and it’s amazing! The formula is very opaque and very, very smooth. I love how comfortable these are to wear and I was really excited to get this shade because it’s a more everyday wearable shade for me. I think these are super high quality lipsticks and the packaging is adorable with the shinny rose gold tube. A new favorite for me!

img_1696

Crown Brush; Ombre Angle Brush Retail Price $14

Another favorite of mine to get as we all know are brushes! This feels like a natural hair brush with the ombre effect with the darkness at the ends. I have been using this to apply my blush the last few days and it really applies the product nicely. It picks up a lot of product as well so I have found I need o use a lighter hand depending on the product I am using but a good brush none the less.

Alrighty! That concludes my Yes, Oh Yas! box for the month of August and I love that we are getting a palette every month because the palettes are getting better and better! The total for this month box is:

$65.00

Not the best value as we have had in the past but I do want to point out that Yes, Oh Yas! has inflated their values again which is kind of irritating to me. The only product I couldn’t find a price for was the Sorme product which happens often for me because of it being a whole sale company I have to find different retailers or trust the retail value provided. This month was probably the worst I have seen with how off their retail value was printed and what it actually was.

The printed retail value was $94.

That is almost a $30 different which is really shocking to me. I really like this subscription and I really like that they have set out to provide a new palette every month for the subscribers but I still find it misleading that they aren’t printing the write value. I don’t know if maybe the companies are providing conflicting information or if there is just a lack of researching being done but it doesn’t take much to look up these products and find the actual price.

That said, I am going to keep my subscription and continue to monitor the actual values. They have provided me with an affiliate link but after this research I don’t feel confident in putting it in my post this month. I am putting Yes, Oh Yas! on a probation in my mind and if I find that September is in a similar situation I am going to reach out to the company and see if I can get an answer to this debacle. I really hope it is just a mistake.

Thank you for stopping by and keep an eye out for what might be up around the curve!

Ipsy Review : August 2018

For those of you who don’t know about this subscription bag it is  $10 and contain 5 deluxe size samples (and sometimes full size products)  each month.

Each month you also can review the products your received; so if you love something you let them know and if you hate something you let them know.

Lets get into this months bag!

img_1682For some reason I forgot to get a full photo of the bag this month but it’s a bright orange canvas type material with bright yellow trim. It’s not may favorite bag just because I’m not the biggest fan of orange and yellow but I always find ways to use my bags after the fact.

Now for the goodies I got this month!

Pixi by Petra Blush- Shade: Beach Rose

This is such a nice blush! I always love getting powder products like this because it allows the ability to try them without the full commitment. This shade is a beautiful dusty terracotta shade and the pigment is there! I have s couple of other Pixi products and I think it’s a really luxe but affordable brand! I have loved everything I have tried from them so far and this was a really nice addition to my collection for the summer! I couldn’t find this on the Pixi website so I wasn’t able to link it to day.

Hikari Cosmetics; Cream Pigment Eyeshadow; Shade: Fierce             Retail Price $13

I am going to have to check but I’m pretty sure I have gotten a shadow from Hikari before. These are really nice high quality shadows with fantastic pigmentation and amazing shine! I don’t normally go for red shades like this so I will be stepping out of my comfort zone using it but I am really looking forward to giving this a try this coming fall and winter. This has a really nice and buttery consistency that I find amazing!

img_1672

Glow For A Cause; Lip Love Lip Blam; Shade Flirt

This was a cute addition to our bag this month and for such a good cause. Glow For A Cause donates a good portion of their proceeds toward lots of non-profit organizations that range from cancer research to college scholarships to no-kill animal shelters. Which is really awesome that we are getting a product that serves a dual purpose. This is a really nice lip balm as well. It has a really nice smooth application and is buttery and leaves my lips feeling hydrated. I really enjoy that this came in our bag this month! I can always use different lip balms for at night and for the upcoming cold months.

Glamour Dolls; Sweet Treat Popsicle Lip Gloss; Shade; Peach                     Retail $4.99

This is my absolute favorite item I got this month! First off it’s the most adorable packaging which I am a sucker for and secondly this is a really nice gloss that smells like candy! The peachy color is one of my favorites and it has an very so slight shimmer to it that I absolutely love! I have been pairing this with a few of my other lipsticks as a center lip topper and it’s been the most adorable lip gloss! I am really loving this!

Ciate London; Glow-To Highlighter; Shade- Moondust                       Full Size Retail $29

Last but not least is this amazing highlighter from Ciate London! I was so impressed to see this in our bag and to be a really nice size I just couldn’t believe it! This highlighter is absolutely beautiful and makes such a statement when applied! It has a very smooth and buttery texture and I have been using it almost every day since I got it! The shade has a pink undertone which I am totally drawn to and love to apply! This also works really well with my more cool tone make up looks! The only thing I didn’t like about getting this in out bag is that it came in a plastic pan. Normally these come in metal pans and I can add them to my magnetic palettes with out any issues…this one will just have to sit on my desk and get used….clever marketing maybe on their part? you be the judge!

Any how that concludes my August Ipsy bag. I really loved this month! I hope I keep getting good bags like this! Do you get Ipsy? What did you get in your bag this month?

So lets get into this months box!

img_1454The theme for this month was Summer in the Desert, all based around this amazing palette from IBY. Now for the goodies!

IBY Beauty; Desert Vibes Palette                                                                        Retail Price $20

This was the star of the show in this months box! This palette was well worth it for this box! I was pretty excited when they sneaked this on their Instagram because even though I’m sure I have shades pretty similar to all of these in this palette it’s still nice to get a pretty warm palette! Now when I actually opened up the palette and swatched this I was so impressed. These are some of the most buttery, creamy and pigmented shadows I have worked with! This is a rock start palette and with the pop of color added by the blue it offers so many different options for different eye looks. I am so impressed with not only the pigmentation but the blendability of these shadows. Such a great palette! I will be using this a lot and I may need to try out one of the other palettes IBY has on their website!

Skone Costmetics; Insanely Intense Tattooed Eyeliner; Shade-Plum             Retail Price $15

I was super excited for this when I realized that it was a PURPLE! I absolutely love purple eyeliner and I used to wear purple in my waterline all the time because it really makes my green eye’s pop but I got away from eye liner for so long I forgot how much I love how this looks! This liner is super easy to apply and is a felt tip. Even though this is a plum colored liner it is darkly pigmented and almost looks as though it could be black. I really love the formula on this because it dries down and looks great! Plus I am happy with anything other than a black liner!

Perse Professional Cosmetics; Smearproof Lipliner; Shade- Nudist               Retail Price $23

I haven’t heard of this company before but this is a really nice lip liner. It’s extremely creamy and applies nicely to the lips. One thing I noticed with this pencil however is that it was almost such a soft and creamy texture that the point on the pencil would almost smoosh down if I applied too much pressure. The other weird thing about this product is the shape of the pencil. It has an odd shape that make’s it alittle interesting to sharpen but other than that it’s a nice shade and a nice pencil. I also wanted to note that I couldn’t find a link for this pencil. Perse seem’s to be a whole sale brand. Update: When I was looking for the shade I saw that Perse seems to be an extension of Sorme because the lip liner is manufactured by Sorme.

Sorme Cosmetic’s; Lipstick; Shade- Bliss                                                 Retail Price $22

As we all know I’m a lipstick junkie and I was super excited to get this in the box this month. I was pleasantly surprised with the shade as well. In the bullet the color looks much darker than what it applies but I really love this shade. There is a shimmer to the formula but not a sparkle. This is also seems to be a moisturizing lipstick which I like. The only problem I have with traditional lipsticks is they don’t last through eating and drinking and that is why I normally like stick to my liquid lips. This is another one I wasn’t able to find and link because Sorme seems to be a whole sale company.

img_1448

Jivi; Exfoliating Face Wash; Lemongrass                  Retail Price $12

To be honest I forgot that this came in the box until I was reviewing the pricing sheet. This wasn’t an item I was particularly excited about. When I opened it up and put a little on my hand just to feel the consistency it looked like baby poop. Yes I know that is kind of extreme but it really looks disgusting. The pump is an odd one as well because when you push down on the top it’s almost like it’s supposed to come out in a foam but doesn’t. The consistency is weird as well. It’s some where between a cream and a liquid foam. The other thing I can’t stand on this is the smell! Obviously the scent is along the lines of lemongrass but there is something else with this that just makes it really hard for me to use it on my face. I also don’t feel like this has any sort of grit to it to help with exfoliating. But I will say when I used it my skin did feel pretty smooth afterward but I don’t really feel like there was anything spectacular about this face wash. This was a flop in the box for me.

So again this month there are some price discrepancies with what they have listed and what I was able to research. I’m not sure of any of these prices as I couldn’t price out two of the times because the websites I found didn’t have anything listed for the lipstick and the lip liner. As for the palette the info card stated $25 when online through IBY the palette is only $20, the eyeliner was another one that I found for $15 on the website but the info card listed for $19. The face wash was also wrong but when you look at the website there are three different options for the face wash and the special edition one retails for $18 as stated on the info card but the one we received is only $12.

Now with that being said I do still like getting this box and I really love the fact that we get a new palette each month but I know I will always do my own research to determine the actual value on the box. And even though the prices listed are not accurately stated with the websites this box still is up there in value and I do think it is still worth it.

So this concludes my July Yes, Oh YAS! box. The total value for the box this month is:

$92

I found this value and even though the info card stated $107.

Again I still think this box is worth it and I really like it but I just know I need to keep up on my research to make sure it maintains being worth it!

Remember you can get 10% off your first box using code

Boxy Charm : July 2018

Boxy Charm is $21 a month for 4-5 full size products. The box is always guaranteed to a value of $100 or more each month. They offer a wide range of brands from emerging to well known. There is a beauty quiz you can take similar to Ipsy to go over your skin tone, skin type, hair color, eye color, so on and so forth. They also offer a user friendly website to allow you to review the items in your box.

Let’s get into this months box!

img_1440

The theme this month is Road Trippin’. I don’t really see these products relating to that theme but hey it was still a pretty good box!

Now for the products!

img_1436

Dr. Brandt- No More Baggage Retail Price $42

This was a super hyped item for this month box and for good reason! This is a really nice eye de-puffing gel. I didn’t think I really needed this until I used it! There is a nice peachy tone to it so when you apply it to the darkness under you eye it helps to combat dark circles as well. I didn’t think I would see a difference the first couple of times I used this but weirdly enough I noticed after applying it and just before applying my make up that my under eyes didn’t seem as dark and I felt like my eyes looked more open and wide awake. This is a win for this box for sure!

Note Cosmetics; Luminous Silk Compact Blusher; Shade- Desert Rose    Retail Price $11.99

This is a beautiful blush! And let me just say holy pigment! I wasn’t sure if I would like this blush because it’s not a normal shade for me but when I applied it I really loved how it looked on my skin. The formula is also really creamy which I think is in part to the argan oil that is mixed in. It applies smoothly and evenly which I enjoy. The shade is a peachy terracotta. I normally am not drawn to shades like this but I really do like how this looks. I think this will be a go to blush for me for the summer and fall.

Chella Beauty; Eyebrow Cream; Shade- Tantalizing Taupe                Retail Price $ 26

So I have gotten this product before some time ago in a subscription and I wasn’t a fan. Previously the brush that was on the one end was thick and stiff and extremely difficult to use not to mention had a hard time fitting into the other end with the product in it. With this one I can tell that they did change the brush to be some what smaller and more user friendly. However I still am not a fan of how the product is packed into the small end of the tube. It’s still difficult to get to and the brush still doesn’t fit nicely into the tube to get the brow cream. I did give this a try just to see if anything had changed with the formula and I feel like this has gotten much creamier than the last time I used it but I still am not a fan of this product. Especially not for $26! I feel like the idea is good but the execution is lacking. The shade is also slightly dark for me so not a product I will be using much more.

img_1435

Wander Beauty; Unlashed Volume and Curl Mascara                 Retail Price $24

Yay for another mascara with a brush/wand I like!!! I wasn’t totally sure that this was a mascara until I pulled it out of the box and read the tube. It’s definitely interesting packaging for a mascara but I do really like this so far. The brush has a slight curl to it to help with lifting and volumizing your lashes. The formula is nice, not to liquidy and not thick which I appreciate. I don’t know that this is something so spectacular that it will replace my current favorites but I do like it. I do notice that I get a little more curl but nothing crazy. I thankfully have pretty long and curly lashes so I don’t need to curl my lashes with a curler, I am lucky enough to apply mascara and be good to go.  I would say this is a good mascara but I think there are better options for better pricing.

img_1431

Tarte Cosmetics; Ready Set Radiant Skin Mist  Retail Price $25

This is a really nice setting spray! The mist is super fine making for a really nice application. I have only used this a few times since I got it just because I haven’t been able to test out new products due to needing my make up looking great for some specific events. But now that I have used it I really like it! I was a little worried in the beginning because this is a radiant spray but it don’t look overly glowy or dewy. I feel like I have a healthy glow to my skin. The scent on this is also kind of interesting. It has a very fresh and citrus scent to it that I don’t mind. I for sure will keep testing this out to see how it wears through out the day. So far I really do like the mister and fresh feeling on my face!

And with that we conclude my July Boxy Charm. The over all value for the box is….

$128.99

So still a great value for such a small month price of $21! I will say this wasn’t my most favorite box from Boxy Charm but it did have good products. I feel like that can happen with different subscriptions though where you love one month but the next it’s just so-so. I still really love Boxy Charm this just wasn’t a home run box for me this month.

I can’t wait to see what next months box looks like!

Thank you for stopping by and keep an eye out for what might be up around the curve!

Ipsy Review : July 2018

For those of you who don’t know about this subscription bag it is  $10 and contain 5 deluxe size samples (and sometimes full size products)  each month.

Ipsy starts with a beauty quiz that asks you questions about different things you like as well as your different features (i.e. Blonde hair, green eyes, fair skin). Each month you also can review the products your received; so if you love something you let them know and if you hate something you let them know.

Lets get into this months bag!

img_1349This months bag is cute! I love the iridescent blue color. The fabric is feels like swim material which is interesting. This one is slightly smaller than bags have been in the past but I really think this would be cute to put in you beach bag to keep things clean and dry!

Now for the products!

BKR Pairs Water Balm

This stuff is so nice! When I initially pulled this out of my bag I wasn’t super excited about it because I really just thought it was another lip balm that I would throw in the drawer and get to later. However when I used it the first time over night I was shocked! My lips felt amazing and looked incredible! They were super soft and plush and ready for my favorite liquid lipstick. The nice thing about this is that a little bit goes along way. I just barely have to apply anything to my lips and it spreads amazingly! I have been using this almost every night since I got it!

Steve Laurant; Blush in Rose all Day

The nice thing about getting products like these that I know I won’t ever use all of them so I get to try out different brands without the commitment to purchasing a full size of something I know I won’t use in total. Now for this blush. The color is a beautiful rosey pink and adds just the right amount of color to the cheeks. One thing I did notice about this blush is that it does have some kick up when I dip my brush into it but nothing to terrible and as long as I tap my brush off I don’t end up looking like I came straight out of the 80’s. The formula isn’t anything crazy special but I do like this blush and I think it will get good use in my collection.

The Balm Cosmetic’s; Bodaclous Eye Shadow from the Nude Beach Palette

Finally!! A full size item from The Balm! I didn’t think it would every happen but FINALLY it has come about! Now I should say I don’t know that this is truly a full size but it’s much bigger than any sample size we have gotten from The Balm in the past. This is a really nice warm transition shade. In the pan the shade actually looks darker than what it actually applies. This also has some kick up when I put my brush into the pan and the shade does seem pretty powdery to me. I had to dip in a few times to really build up the color which isn’t a bad thing but not as pigmented as some other shadows I have. I really do like this shade however because it helps to warm up any crease when applied.

H2O + Beauty; Oasis Ultra Hydrating Cream

I have only used this cream once and it was really nice. I’m not the biggest fan of the smell as it’s got a perfumy smell to it. I’m not really overly hyped up about moisturizers because ever since I have found my Glow Recipe Watermelon Juice nothing else really compares to me. I will continue to try this out and see if it changes my life but at the moment it’s just another moisturizer.

Mellow Cosmetics; Cream Matte Lipstick in Shade Candy Floss

Ipsy doing it again with a full size lipstick! I have gotten a Mellow Cosmetics lipstick in the past and it was one of my favorites to wear in the fall! This one is so much fun! I don’t know how often I will get to wear it because of how bright it is and I don’t like to wear this kind of bright color at work. The formula is really nice and this is really a beautiful. I find that this is more of a stain finish than say a cream matte in my opinion but none the less this is a great lipstick and an awesome full size product!

And that concludes my Ipsy bag for the month of July! I kind of have mixed feelings about my bag this month just because it’s not something I am totally swooning over but it is still a nice little collection of items. I think I may need to go in and redo my beauty profile just to freshen things up.

What did you all get in your Ipsy bags this month? Did you absolutely love all of your products or did you have some duds in your bag as well?

Thank you for stopping by and keep an eye out for what might be up around the curve!

Fab, Fit, Fun : Summer Box 2018

Fab Fit Fun is a quarterly subscription that highlights some great products from each season. The box is $49.99 each quarter and you can usually get your first box at a really discounted rate if you follow just about any celebrity these days! I mean that’s ultimately why I finally took the chance and subscripted was because I got the box 40% off with a special offer code.

Fab Fit Fun offers the option of periodic payments for the year or to make a one time purchase for the 4 boxes in a year, this is called the Select Membership. By being in select it allows you to also choose some if not all of the items that are up for grabs in that quarters box. If you are a periodic payment membership you only get to choose a couple of the items the rest are a surprise. The Select membership also doesn’t include the Editor’s boxes that come out with each quarter as well as the editors favorites from that season!

The boxes are said to have at least $200 worth of product. There is also the option for add on items that are active prior to select member shipping dates. The add on’s are usually additional discounted products offered through Fab Fit Fun that are additional charges on top of the box charge.

So like I said in first Fab, Fit, Fun box I had subscribed to get the summer box and I also participated in their add on feature. We are now going to take a look at all the goodies that came in my summer box!

img_1045

Whish; Shave Cream; Pomegranate           Retail Price $16

So I thought I would start out with the add on I purchased for the summer box. This was on sale for $5 additional on top of the cost of the box which wasn’t bad in my opinion. I really wanted to get a new shave cream as well because it’s been some time since I have found on I like. This one not only smells great but a small amount goes a long way! I have been loving using this!

img_1038

Wildlife Conservation Society Straw

This was some what of an odd item to get in the box but none the less it was an item we received. This is a straw made from recycle material but that’s all I really know about it. When I went to look back at the website to link this item it came up with an error so I don’t know much more about this item.

img_1037

Foreo Luna! fofo; Shade- Mint   Retail Price $89

This was one of the big items in the box this month. I have gotten a mini version of this in the past and I like it but there was no way to charge the small one. This one however is much bigger in size and comes with easy access to the batteries so that you can keep using this. This is a nice facial massager and helps with getting a deeper clean. It also has timed vibration so that as you are moving around your face you have the small pause reminder to let you know it’s time to move to a different area of your face. I really like the color of this as well. In the photo it look more like a blue teal but it’s more of a minty green color. I have used it a couple of times and it works nicely to get my skin clean. I’m not a huge fan of the small plastic nubbins, I usually prefer a brush like my Clarisonic has but this one is fun to use.

img_1029

Erth TU Y YO Ring             Retail Price $55

This is a 14K gold plated ring with two freshwater pearls. I was super excited to get this ring because I really love pearls (being a June baby) and it has a more modern twist on such classic features. However when I went to try this on it didn’t fit! I was so sad because I was so looking forward to wearing this during the summer. When I do wear it as a knuckle ring it looks ok but slightly odd. I think I just need to give it a go and see how I like wearing it through out the day. Other than that it’s a very nice piece of jewelry.

img_1032

Elemis; Papaya Enzyme Peel                Retail Price $ 45

I always enjoy getting skin care to try out! Especially more expensive brands that I normally wouldn’t try for myself. This product smells amazing! I have only used it a couple of times but I really enjoy how soft my skin feels when I wipe it off. And though it is labeled as a peel it doesn’t really act as a peel in my opinion. It has a nice soft exfoliating feel to it that I really enjoy!

img_1033

Minor History Postscript Wallet              Retail Price $20

I absolutely love this! I have always needed something like this but never actually taken the time to buy one. This is so nice for a night out or like a concert where you want to just bring the bare essentials with you but don’t want to lug your whole purse or even your big wallet. I love that this is pretty neutral colors and can fit my ID, credit cards and a small amount of cash all in one cute little package! This will be my go to when going out!

Coola; Classic Face SPF 50 White Tea                                                 Retail Price $32.00

I have used one other Coola product and I had really like it but this one smells a little funny for me. I’m sure it’s the sunscreen smell mixed with the white tea scent. But other than that I have really like this is a light weight SPF that is nice to wear under light make up for a summer day! I also like that it doesn’t leave my skin feeling greasy.

Pier 1 Imports; Marble Ring Dish                                                    Retail Price $ 14.99

This was such a cute décor piece to get in the box! I think this is so pretty with the marble and the gold trim! It’s a really nice quality dish too. I don’t have a lot of marble décor but my best friend does so I am hanging on to this to give to her for her birthday coming up!

Tarte; Tarteist Pro Glow Highlight and Contour Palette                         Retail Price $45

As the only make up item in the box this month I was sooooo over joyed to get this in the box! I had always wanted to try it out but wasn’t really into spending the hefty price tag for this kind of palette. This palette is amazing! There are four highlighters, one cream contour color and one powder contour color. They look and blend beautifully on the skin! Two of the highlight colors are more subtle shades while the other two offer a more blinding highlight. I have been using this palette none stop since I got it and I have really enjoyed playing with cream contour. This palette is such a win for me!

Summer and Rose; Beach Towel; Design Rocky Palm Print                         Retail Price $55

So I almost forgot that this came in my summer box! This was one of the items I got to pick for myself and I was really excited to get a fun new beach towel as all of the ones I have had in the past were old and ratty. This towel is so incredibly soft and I love the bright and fun pattern! It’s also a really nice big size which I appreciate! Now for some reason on my Fab Fit Fun dashboard it doesn’t list this as an item in my box so the actual value of the box is more than what it says which is totally fine by me!

So the over all value for this box was…

$355.99

That’s a really awesome value if you ask me! I paid $49.99 plus tax (this isn’t including my add on) and I got all of these good items! I think it’s a pretty good bang for your buck however I did end up canceling my membership for the time being because I am trying to focus my energy else where at the moment. I really enjoyed getting the Fab Fit Fun box and I think in the future I will look at getting it again but for now I am going to stick with just the three that I am keeping going forward into the future months!

Thank you for stopping in and keep an eye out for what might be up around the curve!

Sephora PLAY! : June 2018

Similar to Ipsy this is also a monthly subscription bag that is $10 and comes with 5 deluxe size samples (and even some full size). This bag also comes with a sample fragrance each month.

This subscription bag comes with products based of your PLAY! profile which you create when you first sign up. It also comes with the PLAY! Book with tips, tricks and beauty advise, the PLAY! PASS that you can redeem for 50 points in Sephora and a one on one tutorial, and the PLAY! DATE which is a monthly meet up to discuss tips and tricks for the products in the bag that month.

Let’s get into this months bag!

img_1195

This months theme was all about the summer heat.

Cover FX; Power Play Foundation; Shade- N20                                    Full Size Retail- $44

I was so surprised to get this foundation sample and for it to actually be the perfect shade from me this month! And let me tell you I love how this foundation wears on the skin! The foundation is said to be a modern-matte finish which I would agree with and it wears really nicely even though I have oily skin. The coverage is said to be full coverage and I would agree with that. At least it’s full coverage compared to other foundations I have used. This is a foundation I am really considering purchasing in a full size!

img_1190

Clinique; Take The Day Off Make Up Remover for Lids, Lashes and Lips                  Full Size Retail $19

This is such a great make up remover. I got a similar sample a few months ago and I really love how quickly and nicely it takes my eye make up off. It does have a slightly oily feeling too it but it is very gentle and doesn’t irritate my eyes like other eye makeup removers can. I don’t know if I would totally buy a full size of this but I really do like this and the sample size is nice for travel.

Urban Decay; Quick Fix Hydracharged Complexion Prep Priming Spray                           Full Size Retail $32

This one has quite the name attached to it! haha! This is a different kind of product for me as I don’t normally use spray primers but I was really intrigued to give this a try. It smells great! It has a soft coconut smell almost like being on vacation and I love it! I have only used it once since I got my box and so far so good as far as holding my make up on but only time will tell. The full size of this is on the spendy side considering that it is just a spray but I can see where people would like it. I will have to keep trying this out before I decide if it’s worth the full size.

img_1193

Sol de Janeiro; Brazilian Bum Bum Cream        Full Size Retail $45

Another Bum Bum Cream this month! I was really surprise to see this in the box this month because this isn’t the usual kind of product for Sephora to put in our boxes. But boy was I happy to receive this! I love not only how this makes my skin feel but the smell is amazing as well! Super happy to have another one of these!

img_1189

IGK; First Class Charcoal Detox Dry Shampoo  Full Size Retail $27

I am all about dry shampoo samples because I love to give them a try before I buy. There is nothing worse than getting a full size product and hating it. I will say I have used this once and I am in love with how it feels in my hair! Usually my hair will start to show oil by the end of the day and with this is hasn’t! I am so impressed! This is a must have for me!

img_1194

Marajo; Nourishing Cleansing Crème and Deep Treatment Butter

This was our sample foil packet extra this month. I really like that they have switched over to this type of extra in the boxes each month and these kinds of shampoo and deep treatment items are perfect for traveling! I can’t wait to give this a shot!

So that concludes  my Sephora PLAY! box for the month of June! I was actually really impressed to have all of these amazing products this month! But none the less because of all of the not good boxes I have had and the awful shipping times I have finally cancelled my Sephora PLAY! box. To me it wasn’t really worth it and one good box after so many not good ones isn’t going to make me keep it.

So going forward there will only be three boxes I review during subscriptions week but eventually I hope to have more to add to this but at this time in life I think I need to spend more time on saving and on boxes and subscriptions that I actually find value in and love!

Thank you for stopping by and keep an eye out for what might be up around the curve!

Ipsy Review : June 2018

For those of you who don’t know about this subscription bag it is  $10 and contain 5 deluxe size samples (and sometimes full size products)  each month.

Ipsy starts with a beauty quiz that asks you questions about different things you like as well as your different features (i.e. Blonde hair, green eyes, fair skin). Each month you also can review the products your received; so if you love something you let them know and if you hate something you let them know.

Lets get into this months bag!

img_1110

This month there was options of three different shades of bag you could receive; red, yellow and blue! I was so happy to get the red back just because in the past when we have been given options I never seem to get the one I want but this month I did! YAY!

Now for the goods!

Nomad Cosmetics; Stockholm Highlighter; Shade- Midnight Sun

I wanted to start with this item from the bag because this was an add on for me this month. Every time you review items on Ipsy they give you points that you can then use to make add on’s into you bag the next month! I had about 500 points saved up to get this cute little highlighter. And I am so happy I got this one because it’s stunning! I love how versatile and buildable this highlighter is. You can be light handed and have a subtle highlight or you can build it up and have a more blinding highlight. Either way it looks beautiful!

img_1102

Luxie Beauty ; 245 Small Shader Eye Brush

And the broken record I am…I love brushes and this one is no exception! It’s small precise and perfect for packing on color or adding the perfect pop of shimmer to the inner corner. This is a really nice brush and makes it easy!

img_1106

Pixi Beauty; Glow Tonic Toner

I have always wanted to try this because I have hear such rave reviews and I will say the little I have used it I have liked it. But with skin care products it is hard to judge a product off of only a sample size but I really do like this and I think it smells great to top it all off! I really might look into the full size now that I have used this and like it!

img_1097

BioBelle; #UnicornGlow Sheet Masks

Broken record x2-I LOVE SHEET MASKS! They are some of my favorite ways to pamper myself and reboot my face and these are all about giving that #unicornglow so I am all about it! Not to mention they smell great!

Beauty Basics Cosmetics; Foiled Eyeshadow; Shade- Satin Taupe

This shadow is to die for! It is buttery and creamy and applies like a dream! I was pretty surprised at the pan size as well! I forgot to take a picture with this one next to another of my regular sized shadows but this one is awesome! I also love the color! It’s not a normal shade I would wear on the daily but I do like using it with my ColourPop Fame palette! This is just an incredible shadow!

Doucce Cosmetics; Luscious Lip Stain; Shade- Passion Peach

I was a little unsure about this when I first pulled it out of my bag because it’s such a bright color and very orange. But when I applied it with a lip liner I fell in love! The lip stain formula dries down really quickly and stays put. It’s also pretty comfortable, which was a little surprising considering how quickly it dried down. This has been one of my fun colors to go to since I received it.

And with that I conclude my Ipsy bag for June! Seriously one of my favorite subscriptions! What did you receive in your Ipsy bag this month? Leave me a comment and let me know your favorite item from your bag!

Thank you for stopping by and keep an eye out for what might be up around the curve!
